Bro, any idea how this competition is being formatted though?

Has DRDO provided TATA and Kaylani the full design of their ATAGS? And what criteria will be used to evaulate the winner?

Given that the requirement is so large it would be good if both Kaylani and TATA are given the ATAGS contract with certain performance rewards inbuilt. Such as the total requirement is for 3000, split this into 1000 for both entities and whomever is judged to be performing the best by X date gets a second contract for the reamining 1000.

The only issue I can see with this solution is that there will be a lack of commonality within the arty regiment. Yes they will have the same basic principles(ammunition, FCS etc) but the APUs, loading systems, propulsion systems may be different and thus complicate logistics. One can already see from this picture that there are certain cosmetic differences between the same product.

One way , we can bypass the commonality issue , by selecting a module based product. Give IP royalty to them and make them integrator. But share the design and let everybody else tender for modules, and pick the best quality and competitively priced out of them. Both have the manufacturing capability. Both must manufacture. Tendering can let both of them share the pie. Or we will be stuck with a LM F35 situation, where they can keep going overbudget and no tender or anything for accountability.

The trucks on the right in the 2nd pic are definitely ASL Stallions (generation unknown).

And while I'm not sure, I'd say the FAT is an ASL 6x6. In the first pic you can see a square window of the vehicle towing the Kalyani gun...which IMO only fits the profile of an ASL FAT. So possibly this (wheel profile suits better) -

    Or this -

ALS - Ashok Leyland Stallion (ALS) - the correct Army nomenclature.

ATAGS with on-mount APU will be ready for trials in a couple of months. There is a proposal to integrate a 95kW APU offering a speed of 12 km/h as opposed to 7 km/h of Bofors FH-77B.

Development and Testing to be completed by March end .... and then induction.

Why 45 calibre and 52 calibre are being inducted simaltaneously? What is the difference in performance?
