Re: 20+ Pakistani soldiers killed in Suicide attack in Bannu cantonment.

Bro, the congressis will do anything and get away with it.

They have hurt our country more than the British did before 1947, yet how many congressis have we killed?

Cross-LoC trade suspends in Kashmir following standoff

SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) - - The trade across line-of-control (LoC) between divided Kashmir was suspended Saturday following a standoff between the two sides, officials said.

Indian-controlled Kashmir officials said their counterparts on Saturday detained over 25 drivers along with their goods trucks from this side, demanding release of their driver and truck seized by police reportedly for carrying narcotics.

Indian police Friday said they seized a consignment of 114 kg of narcotics from a goods truck at Salamabad trade facilitation center in Uri town, about 112 km northwest of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir. The contraband identified as Brown sugar (adulterated form of heroin) is valued around US dollars 18.5 million in international market.

"The Pakistan-controlled Kashmir authorities have detained more than 20 trucks and the drivers demanding the release of the driver and vehicle from their side which was used for smuggling drugs," G A Khwaja, Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla told a local news agency. "We will convey to the authorities on the other side not to press with their demand as the law will have to be followed, for illegal act has taken place."Meanwhile, Indian-controlled Kashmir officials have detained 48 Pakistani-controlled Kashmir trucks along with their drivers.

"They didn't allow our vehicles to return so we also have held their 48 vehicles here," said Muhammad Abdullah, a police officer posted in Uri.

Following the standoff, Khwaja and Pakistan-controlled Kashmir officials held a two-hour long meeting at Kaman post in Uri. However, no breakthrough was achieved during the meeting.Reports said Pakistan -controlled Kashmir officials stated they send the trucks after proper scanning and will not permit any return of their incomplete convoy. The officials claimed Indian police has registered a fabricated case against the driver from their side.

The cross-LoC trade between the divided parts of Kashmir was started in 2008. The trade since then is going on barter pattern.

The trade takes place four times in a week through the Salamabad centre in Uri and Chakan-Da-Bagh crossing point in Poonch, close to LoC.

At present only 21 listed items are traded which include fruits, vegetables, pulses and handicrafts. The trade across LoC is a duty free trade. It neither falls in the category of international trade nor does come under the purview of domestic trade.

LoC is a de facto border that divides Kashmir into India and Pakistan controlled parts.Kashmir, the Himalayan region divided between India and Pakistan is claimed by both in full. Since their Independence from British, the two countries have fought three wars, two exclusively over Kashmir.

PoK authorities suspend cross-LoC bus service over arrest of Pakistani driver

Authorities in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Monday suspended the cross-Line of Control (LoC) bus service on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road to press for the release of a Pakistani driver arrested by Indian authorities in connection with smuggling of narcotics worth Rs 100 crore.

"We were informed by PoK authorities that the Karavan-e-Aman (Peace Caravan) bus service shall remain suspended on Monday. No reasons were assigned," said Regional Passport Officer Firdous Iqbal.

The move is apparently a pressure tactic by the PoK authorities who are seeking release of the driver and his vehicle from which 114 packets of Brown Sugar -- valued at Rs 100 crore in international market -- were recovered last week. The PoK authorities have detained 27 trucks and drivers of these vehicles at Chakoti across the LoC since Friday following recovery of the drugs on this side.

While one driver has been arrested, 48 other drivers from PoK are also stranded at Salamabad Trade Facilitation Centre since the stand-off began last week. It is unlikely that cross LoC trade on Srinagar- Muzaffarabad route will commence on Tuesday in view of the ongoing row.

While the Karavan-e-Aman Bus Service runs on weekly basis, the cross LoC trade is conducted from Tuesday to Friday every week. The passenger bus service was started in April 2005 while the trade began in October 2008.

what about the 50+ Pakistani truck drivers held in J&K for no obvious reasons other than pure hatered?
Pakistan detained Indian drivers only after this weird action by India.
India is so down right weird that they simply can't separate politics from trade.

on one hand they want more trade with Pakistan on the other hand they create whatever hurdles they can,in the way of trade.
I feel lucky my ancestors got their independence from people of such stuck up mentality or God knows what weird treatment we had been getting if still part of India.

About an year back an Indian stray dog somehow found its way to samjhota express and ended up in Lahore. Pak thought that Indians have delibrately done this to tease Pak. In retaliation they collected 50 rabid dogs and sent them to India in the same samjhota express. lack of trust is quite evident in this case also. entire indian TV media has shown those drugs and yet Pak thinks that we have done it bcoz we hate Pak.
