AGRA: Six men hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh were arrested by police on Wednesday on the charges of forcing a woman to convert to Christianity.

The incident took place in Gopalpura village under Shamshabad police jurisdiction on Wednesday. The accused were identified as Michale of Icchapur in Chattisgarh, Sanjay Lodhi of Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh, Brijesh Jaatav from Kashmiri Gate in Hathras district, Suraj Balmiki of Rakabganj, Sundar Singh Jaatav of Nagla Ajeet and Mahesh Chand Jaatav of Shahganj in Agra.

The men were arrested after a man identified as Bablu Jaatav, a resident of Gopalpur village, alleged that six Christians had been visiting his sister-in-law's home in the absence of his elder brother to offer prayers and persuade her to adopt other religion.

On Wednesday, when the six men came to Bablu's sister-in-law's house, he raised an alarm and called the villagers. Later, they handed them over to police.

Ashok Kumar Singh, deputy superintendent of police and circle officer of Fatehabad, said, "During our investigation, the six men accepted that they came to offer prayers at Sunita Jaatav's home as she was going through hard times."

According to sources, Sunita's daughter is about to get married in April but the family is facing a financial crunch. "Based on the written complaint of Bablu Jaatav, we have arrested the men and booked them under IPC section 153B (Imputations and assertions prejudicial to national-integration).

More than the Muslim Ullemas, I am concerned with the Christian Missionaries coz first of all they are fearless and directly visit your house and will persuade you to listen to their message and how they'll solve your problem if you convert to/accept Christianity.

We have a very simple policy in dealing with them, do not open the door and tell them 'we believe in Jesus, but not in your message' then close the door with 'Jai Shri Krishna'.

BTW I have many christian friends, most of them know how they are converted to Christianity and they accept they are Hindus ethnically & culturally.

Odd I have never heard any one in the USA being arrested for forcing people to be converted to any religion. Must be an Indian thing.

The First Amendment guarantees freedoms concerning religion, expression, assembly, and the right to petition. It forbids Congress from both promoting one religion over others and also restricting an individual’s religious practices. It guarantees freedom of expression by prohibiting Congress from restricting the press or the rights of individuals to speak freely. It also guarantees the right of citizens to assemble peaceably and to petition their government.

    Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

We have freedom of religion in the USA.

The provisions relating to “Right of Freedom of Religion” of the Articles 25 & 28 of the Constitution of India make India a secular state. To make assurance doubly sure, the 42nd amendment of the constitution inserts the term “secular” in the preamble of the constitution.
Every citizen of India has a right to practice and promote their religion peacefully.

There were lot of sects and cults being decimated by US govt. for they were forcing and arming, there was a lot of them and there was one near to my place too. Got trashed about a decade ago.

It is law that it cant be forced.

And importantly people (as a community not as a sect) thrash them as a matter of fact before govts. could take action lol

The arrests took place in Agra in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh.

The men were arrested after a man identified as Bablu Jaatav, a resident of Gopalpur village, alleged that six Christians had been visiting his sister-in-law's home in the absence of his elder brother to pray for her and persuade her to adopt the Christian faith.

According to the Times of India, the man raised the alarm and called the local villagers, who handed the men over to police.

Ashok Kumar Singh, the local deputy superintendent of police, said: 'During our investigation, the six men accepted that they came to offer prayers at Sunita Jaatav's home as she was going through hard times.'

The Times of India reported sources as saying that Sunita's daughter is about to get married in April but the family is facing a financial pressures.

'Based on the written complaint of Bablu Jaatav, we have arrested the men and booked them under IPC section 153B (Imputations and assertions prejudicial to national-integration),' a police statement said.

The accused were named as Michale of Icchapur in Chattisgarh, Sanjay Lodhi of Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh, Brijesh Jaatav from Kashmiri Gate in Hathras district, Suraj Balmiki of Rakabganj, Sundar Singh Jaatav of Nagla Ajeet and Mahesh Chand Jaatav of Shahganj in Agra.

Christianity is the third largest religion in India behind Hinduism and Islam, with nearly 30 million Christians, constituting 2.3 per cent of India's population. The rise of right-wing Hindu nationalism has seen increasing pressure on minority faiths, with frequent attempts to 're-convert' Christians to Hinduism, seen by adherents of the 'Hindutva' ideology as the default faith of all Indians. Several states have passed anti-conversion laws aimed at preventing conversions away from Hinduism.

So you only believe what the white journalist says? If the missionaries forces someone to convert to Christianity then it's ok but yeah re-converting is a cruel rise of right wing Hindu Nationalism.

Of course. How can one deny the wisdom in the words of the Christ ?

Cursed are those who haven't had the benefit of The Christ's teachings .

P.S. Ever since the American Indians underwent baptism , they're an improved lot.In their reservations .No more headhunting & scalping nice white cowboys or prospective miners. The west is definitely a much more civilised place now than what it used to be.
