Make Rakhi Sawant CM candidate: AAP tells Sena

NAGPUR: The Nagpur unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) swung into poll mode with the arrival of state convener Anjali Damania, opening of its city office and review meetings of various local committees in the district.

It became apparent from Damania's address to the party workers and media interaction that Nitin Gadkari, BJP candidate from Nagpur, was AAP's prime target. Earlier, Damania had decided to contest from Nagpur against Gadkari but then decided against it as she is busy revving up the party machinery in the state. The party candidate from Nagpur is yet to be decided.

When asked about the candidate, Damania said, "A common man will be our candidate, who will defeat Gadkari. Gadkari is afraid of losing in Nagpur. Hence, he has decided to contest simultaneously from Nagpur and Indore. We challenge him to contest only from Nagpur."

Meanwhile, some youths were caught distributing pamphlets against AAP leaders. When mediapersons sought their identity, they revealed that they belonged to an organization called Tejaswi. However, all of them refused to give their names and addresses. Damania claimed that Gadkari had sent them. "He is afraid of AAP and that is why BJP sent hired goons to defame our party," she told the party workers.

Reacting to Uddhav Thackeray's write up in the Friday edition of Saamana terming Arvind Kejriwal as the item girl of politics and that Rakhi Sawant would have done a better job, Damania said, "If Thackeray holds Rakhi Sawant in such high regard he should make her Shiv Sena's chief minister candidate in the assembly elections." Even as she described NCP as a party of robbers, she said that Sena was second worst in Maharashtra.

Damania slammed Congress, BJP and some media organizations for being extremely biased. "When we stage dharna it is anarchy. But when Congress MPs Sanjay Nirupam and Priya Dutt do it then it is not. When Somnath Bharti raids a drug racket he is a Robin Hood but when Congress minister Narayan Rane's son Nilesh uses Bandra police to conduct raids in Marine Drive it is ok. We all know what Nilesh and Nitesh Rane had done to toll booths in Goa," she said.

Damania also said that some TV channels were falsely upgrading the posts of some AAP critics. "Capt. Gopinath joined AAP ten days ago but he has become our leader. Chetan Bhagat never came to our office but he is our sympathizer. Tina Sharma is just a member not even a volunteer. People won't be fooled by this," she said.

Many people joined the party on Friday. Independent corporator Harish Dikondwar after formally joining the party said that he would spend his ward funds as per wishes of mohalla sabhas adding that he would hold mohalla sabhas regularly. World's shortest woman Sushree Jyoti Amage along with her entire family, journalist Avinash Langote, social activist Ashok Lanjewar and others too entered the party.

District convenor Devendra Wankhede told the party workers that AAP was opposed to privatization of basic amenities and would soon launch a campaign against private power and water companies in the city. Rajesh Pugalia, Girish Nandgaonkar, Prajakta Atul and others expressed their views.

    What Anjali Damania said

Nitin Gadkari: Afraid of losing from Nagpur and has decided to contest from Indore as well

Anonymous pamphlets: They were BJP henchmen. This shows that they are in panic

Uddhav Thackeray: He should make item girl Rakhi Sawant Sena's CM candidate

NCP: It is a party of robbers. Every minister is involved in scams

Congress: Its own MP Sanjay Nirupam is on hunger strike over power tariff

Somnath Bharti: He definitely used objectionable language but his action wasn't wrong

Kumar Vishwas: If he has to apologize for his poetry in 2004 why not Modi for 2002 riots

Capt Gopinath: He joined AAP just ten days ago. He is just a primary member

Make Rakhi Sawant CM candidate: AAP tells Sena - The Times of India

BJP, not Congress our main rival, AAP says

NAGPUR: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Maharashtra convener Anjali Damania on Saturday said the BJP will be the party's main rival in the Lok Sabha polls and not the Congress which had lost its 'relevance'.

"The 128-year-old Congress has already lost relevance the way it is sliding. We will target the BJP. Narendra Modi cannot become prime minister of this country as the BJP will not get allies to support Modi," said Damania.

She said AAP would come up with one expose every week against former BJP president Nitin Gadkari who is to contest the Lok Sabha elections from the city.

Asked if AAP was soft on Congress and only targeting Gadkari, Damania said they were hoping that anti-incumbency factor would work against the Congress which was holding the Nagpur Lok Sabha seat for last 15 years. "The BJP will be our rival in the coming polls," said Damania who is part of the national council of AAP.

"During the election campaign we plan to make one expose every week against Gadkari's business dealings and his nexus with rival political leaders for mutual gains. We will also expose how Gadkari and local Congress MP Vilas Muttemwar are hand-in-glove," said Damania.

"I have already exposed how Gadkari and NCP leader Ajit Pawar work together though they are supposed to be political rivals. Pawar sanctioned land in four days for sugarcane cultivation of Gadkari's Purti sugar factory, at Khursapar near Bela from irrigation surplus land. I was appalled when Gadkari told me we helped them in four deals and they reciprocated," she said.

Following this expose, the TOI had also extensively covered a slew of suspect transactions that Purti Group was allegedly involved in.

She dismissed any negative impact from the recent street protest by Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his ministerial colleagues demanding suspension of some policemen for alleged inaction against African nationals accused of involved in sex and drug racket. "Sensing threat to their very existence from the emergence of AAP, established political parties are bent upon attacking us. But we will continue our fight to cleanse the country's politics and root out corruption," said Damania.

Damania said AAP would contest most of the 48 seats in Maharashtra. "We will start scrutiny of candidates for the state from next week."

Midnight raid: Somnath Bharti says he was ‘not aware of procedures’

NEW DELHI: Delhi law minister Somnath Bharti, who has recently found himself in controversies, on Saturday said his intentions were good but he was projected in "wrong way" and had he been "aware" of procedures, he could have avoided the wrangles.

Bharti, an Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Malviya Nagar, is facing cases and criticism from political opponents for a midnight raid against some African women in south Delhi, where he had alleged a drug and prostitution racket was taking place.

"I am not aware of procedures. If I would have known them, I would not have made these alleged mistakes," Bharti said while addressing lawyers on the eve of Republic Day at Saket district courts premises here.

"I am doing things for you (common man). I went on raid late night, risking my life," he said, referring to the midnight incident at Khirki Extension here, in the function organised by Saket Court Bar Association.

Criticizing Delhi police, he said, "This is the job of police, but I personally went there. I am doing this because of concerns of people who have elected me as their representative.

"Many took me wrong. My intentions were good, but it is projected in a wrong way," the minister said.

"I am new to this system, so I may commit mistakes, but someone should come forward and guide me. This system has been formed by common people, so I would try my best to give them a corruption-free system," he said.

The minister, whose ouster from the Arvind Kejriwal cabinet is being demanded by political opponents, criticized media and said his opponents were using news reports to "project" him in a "wrong manner".

"Reporters present here will go and give their reports, but the persons sitting above are closely associated with other political parties and it is they who project me in a wrong manner," he said.

Besides Bharti, SCBA president Rajpal Kasana, his deputy Arun Rathi and over 100 lawyers were also present.

The law minister said more additional public prosecutors in all six district courts complexes should be appointed to fast-track trials.

Kejriwal refuses to salute Tricolour at national flag-hoisting

In yet another instance to show disrespect to the established system and protocol, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal did not salute the national Tricolour after hoisting it at Chhatrasal Stadium on the occasion of 65th Republic Day of the country.

As per tradition for this occasion, after unfurling the flag, one has to salute it, but the Delhi Chief Minister moved straight to his seat after flag hoisting.

Speaking on this, Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Harsh Vardhan said, “The way Kejriwal and his partymen have violated the norms and shown disrespect to the democratic system in recent days has been unforeseen. Even today what he did is deplorable.”

Dawood, Gawali can also be AAP members, says Damaniya

Anajali Damaniya, regional convenor of AAP today issued a very controversial statement that even underworld don Dawood and likes of Arun Gawali can also become members of Aam Adami Party. She said that all are welcome in her party.

She said that the gangsters will not be made leaders but we shall try to improve them she claimed.

She was talking at ‘Meet the Press’ arranged by Nagpur Union of Working Journalists. She said the list of candidates for Lok Sabha elections for Maharashtra will be finalised in a week’s period. At present we are trying to judge the likely candidates. A review committee is also organised for this. Persons who believe in the party ideology and who have clean public image will be our candidates. Thus we have become a direct threat to the existing political parties and this is the reason we have to face criticism and accusations from various quarters. People now have very high expectations from the party. It is not possible to meet all the expectations of all the people and so there some disappointment in the minds of people, she accepted on the occasion. The Congress rule has come to an end in Delhi and so BJP will be our main opponent in coming Lok Sabha elections she said.

Change of guard is certain in Lok Sabha elections. We have shown that common and good people can also change the country. The voters should not only look to a fine face but look behind the face for intelligence and intention at the time of casting vote.

She further said that it will be our endeavour to turn a leader into common man which he is and not to convert candidate into a leader.

She informed that the party is in touch with Medha Patkar. The announcement of her entry into the party is likely on Monday. Damaniya said that well known farmer leader from Wardha, Vijay Jawandhiya will also be invited for Lok Sabha polls.

She also informed that the candidates’ list of the party will be made public in a week’s span.

    Clarification on Anjali Damania’s remark

Any citizen of India who has not been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude is welcome to join the Aam Aadmi Party as an ordinary/primary member. There is no pre-screening process in place to exclude such people of our big population who are joining the party. However as soon as any information of this nature is brought to our notice, the party will take immediate action to cancel the membership of such individuals.

The standards of honesty and probity expected from individuals who aspire to the positions of leadership or responsibility are much higher.

This stand was clarified by Anjali Damaniya to members of the electronic media just after the conclusion of event. However as not all members of the media were present at this time, we are issuing this clarificatory statement informed Girish Nandgaonkar, the spokesperson of Aam Adami Party.

Do you remember my post about AAP being a CIA funded org and anti national? They are proving it everyday. Somnath Bharti is not being sacked from AAP bcoz he is the conduit for money for PB. All the cases of Bharti in HC & SC have been fought by PB. It is father son duo of Bhushans who own AAP and its mascot Khujliwala. This Bhushan duo reminds of the demon duo of Khar dushan.

Aam Aadmi Party expels rebel MLA Vinod Kumar Binny from party

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday expelled Laxmi Nagar legislator Vinod Kumar Binny from the party.

The AAP said on micro-blogging site Twitter that its disciplinary committee took the decision. Binny had recently accused the Arvind Kejriwal-led party of deviating from its poll promises.

He had also sought action against law minister Somnath Bharti, who has triggered a row after carrying out a raid to expose an alleged sex and drug racket in south Delhi.

Binny, who defeated Congress heavyweight AK Walia in the December 2013 assembly elections, had also said the rookie party was "cheating" the people of Delhi and termed Kejriwal a "dictator".

The AAP was mulling disciplinary action against Binny, who was a part of the nine-member political affairs committee of the rookie party.

Party leader Yogendra Yadav had said Binny was making "baseless" accusations. In an interview with two TV channels, Delhi chief minister Kejriwal had termed Binny a "greedy" person.

A Delhi University graduate, Binny had been with the Congress from 2009 to 2011.
