    I seriously hope that they don't entrust it's development to ADE.

    BTW, total Su 30 MKI order is 272+50 ?

    the LCH is where I have my bets on for long term Indian arms export. lots of countries can benefit from a machine like that - I can think of Viets, Myanmar, African countries etc and its maturing well too.. is there an export controls clause with the shakti engines at all? is it wholly owned by India (IPR and all?)

    ^^ I never realized Alpha's companies had such a considerable share of Su-30MKI component production!

    Also tidbits -

    @Abingdonboy @randomradio @MilSpec @PARIKRAMA

    So provided the FGFA contract is inked this year, we can expect the first flight of our prototype by around 2020-2021. Reasonable I guess. But this means full-scale production of the jet at HAL in India cannot begin before 2025. With this plane, it's better late than never - no matter when it comes, it'll be the king of the skies around our region..and maybe even the world. Considering it could be better than the PAK-FA in certain aspects.

    Also, this would mean IAF will be inducting the Tejas Mk-2 and FGFA almost simultaneously.

    Bro, i understand the compulsion to want to see it exported but let it first be inducted en masse in India and meet domestic demand. There is no greater advert for a system then to be inducted into the Indian armed forces (given the laundry list of very exacting standards the Indian armed forces set).

    Yup but I guess they are just trying to live up to their name (Ray of sunlight).

    Would prefer them in a triclour inspired paintjob, I'm sure HAL's paintjob can come up with something awesome.

    What I've been saying for years :p

    So 330-340 MKIs will be in service at least.
