    @Abingdonboy on your question of why ka-226 when we have LUH. one thing i can think of:
    redundancy of frame types for same role.
    if for some reason (technical issue/parts issue) the entire fleet of either type had to be grounded (more probability of this happening with the LUH as its a new platform), we will have a back up platform

    This is attributing logic and sense that I simply don't think feature in such decsions sir. What you have said is perfectly rational and makes sense but I am almost certain it is not the reason the Ka-226 was signed for.

    Anyway, redundancy is not really sought in any other defence deals, India doesn't hedge its bets like that and whilst there may be some utility in that I think the cons outweigh the pros.

    The same people that stated that it's better to buy single engine fighters to reduce operational costs, decided out of the blue to replace a light single engine helicopter, with a twin engine coax rotor one, after the forces selected the EC Fennec twice. Nothing strange about it. :mrgreen:
