It will have canister version with thrust vector control. New light weight warhead too.

See the bottom fins size and compare it to above. Not 100% sure from this if it will be canister. But drdo knows the advantage of canister launch.

All's fine expect the project officially is being called as Akash NG, not Akash Mk2.

Yes same Akash but higher range, better aerodynamics and probably with seeker.

Can't say much. As its not even 6 months since the start of this project.

However for me personally, AKASH missiles in canisters, on 8x8 TELs and the overall reduction of weight of missile by use of more composites, to be able to withstand higher Gs, and be more maneuverable, that would be more than enough for me.

    Becoz VSHORADS[upto 6-8 km] , SR-SAM [upto 18 km] , QR-SAM , Akash [upto 35km], SPYDER MR [~50 km range ] , Barak 8 And Barak 8 ER and then S400 is a complete Air Defence Package .
[By Air Defence package , I am excluding ABM capability ]

    Is that a Seeker...!!!!
(On the right side of the Missile)
Will the NG be atleast terminally active radar homing !?

This might as well be the biggest change...
Or is it still command guided...
    IS THIS CONFIRMED...!?
AFAIK....The Range has been upgraded to 40KM...When is it up for testing!?
I expect it to be introduced by 2025.

Will the 'Quick Reaction with Mobility' issues be resolved with the NG!?

Frankly IMO, the guys at DRDO at beating a dead horse with the Akash project. The 2K12 Kub airframe is way past it's prime and superior modern missiles (Barak-8) are already entering production. The B8 can easily do anything Akash/NG can, and then some.

Canister-launch of Akash is not possible unless folding fins are developed. At it's current dimensions, a canister for Akash will have a terribly huge diameter making them heavy & unwieldy.

Everyone agrees that the B8 is far superior BUT then it comes down to cost . The B8 can't cover or be deployed everywhere! ... So Low cost system (compared to the B8) is a good solution + tomorrow war breaks out, we are at least are self sufficient and not choked on imports!

The best thing of Desi things is that you can improve it. When it reaches to a certain level, you can sell it to others and make money. The best thing is that you can leverage them for your national and strategic interest like we are doing with china by offering it to Vietnam. If we sell brahmos to vietnam, Chinese ships in SCS will always be in the strike range of brahmos against which they have no counter. This will force china to reconsider their policy to help Pakistan or they will have to take some counter measures to defend its ship from Brahmos which will cost them. In short we can create security concern for our enemies. Simply selling some pinaka to Afghanistan will make pakistan piss in their pant.

So far as reaction is concern, it will be by and large same as Akash Mk1 but it will have greater range, greater envelope and more accuracy.
