PANAJI: All the six accused allegedly involved in the bomb blast case on Diwali eve in Margao in 2009 were acquitted by special national investigation agency court on Tuesday.

The judge held that the prosecution could not prove the charges against the six accused, who are members of Sanathan Sanstha. Two of them, Malgonda Patil and Yogesh Naik had been killed in the explosion.

The accused had been charged with waging war against nation and terrorism.

The blast shook the city on the eve of Diwali, as revellers were getting ready to hold night-long celebrations.

The explosion was triggered off not far from the spot, where former chief minister Digambar Kamat was present at a function.
