New Delhi: Social activist Anna Hazare is set to begin a fast-unto-death outside Parliament from Tuesday to demand change in anti-corruption laws.
Specifically, changes in the proposed Jan Lokpal Bill which has been drafted by Lokayukta of Karnataka justice Santosh Hegde, Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan, Kiran Bedi and RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal.
The Prime Ministers Office issued this statement in response to those demands. "The PMO has noted with deep disappointment that Anna Hazare is still planning to go ahead with his planned hungerstrike. The PMO believes that in the best democratic tradition- there has to be give and take."

That last clause on give and take was later deleted by the PMO in a revised statement - after Hazare objected to it.

The Prime Minister's Office urged Hazare to call off his hunger strike, but Hazare remained adamant. He had also become a Citizen Journalist to appeal to citizens to join the cause.

Earlier, pressing for introduction of the Lokpal Bill in Parliament, social activist Anna Hazare on Sunday had initiated a fresh protest against corruption in Mumbai.

He had said the Lokpal Bill would punish the culprits severely for corruption. Hazare announced hunger-strike in New Delhi for a stronger Lokpal Bill, as the Centre has refused to heed people's suggestions with regard to its provisions.

Comparing the government's draft of the bill, and the 'Jan Lokpal Bill' prepared by social activists, he said the government's draft defeated the purpose of the legislation.

Hazare had also appealed to people to support the Jan Lokpal Bill, and launch movements in their respective towns and villages to put pressure on the government.

The sub-committee headed by Defence Minister AK Anthony met colleagues of Hazare on Monday. But the interactions proved fruitless as the activists were insisting on the government accepting their draft in full, the PMO said.

One of the great saying of great Anna Hazare:

"Always try to be that one grain which when decides to sacrifices its life in soil gives life to thousand other grains & not like thousand of those grain who question why should we sacrifice our life in soil and hence get grinded "
