Every accused has benefit of doubt, AND THAT IS ONE OF THE BIG LOOP HOLES IN OUR LEGAL SYSTEM.
Most high profile cases goes on for years and by that time many of the witnesses die, the papers either vanish or are lost in fire,
as per me JUST DELAYED IS INJUSTICE.

I do not approve the public thrashing of that lady as correct, but considering how our judicial system is, by the time the courts will come to some decision, her 2 year old daughter would be married to someone else and probably settled outside india.
Sometimes it feels that our justice system is willing to wait till one of the party dies and then the case is "resolved"
Every case should have a time frame within which it should be debated, both sides of the cases listened and then justice meted out. But on the other hand, the mob justice in this case, could be deemed fair to a point. And I tell you why,

She is elected member of the house, a public representative, and a lawmaker, and she should know the law well. What she has done is unlawful and surely she would have eventually got off with it as other news become more important. If you see, in India the politicians get away lightly for a crime for which a common man will get 5 years imprisonment. We are a country where a member of assemble MLA will get a Free home for being elected by us. And during this duration the MLA does nothing to help the area where he is voted from or for the people who voted him. He only follows party orders and his small home at village all of a sudden becomes a big palace and he starts taking over other people land. And we the common people the sort of whom voted for him struggle to build one small home. Such incidents happen even by small corporators of municipality, who after being elected as a corporator start to make their own investments using legal means and official money from Municiapality, but the people who elected him have the same water and road problem which he did not bother to solve.

Guys, take a hint, Sharad pawar got a slap publically, this MLA got beaten up, this is what will be the direction soon unless the politicians own up as to who they are responsible to,

And about the comment the lady made that the 100 or so mob tried to rape her. I really doubt it, but if they had tried, then I would quote the members name of this forum "DEATH BY CHOCOLATE" I dont think I need to add more.

Further a woman should see this forum, at least what we can have some view from the other sides besides the Stupid MLA.

On the funny side, the BJP members might be watching Abhishek Manusinghvi episode and they were wondering that since he is MEMBER OF THE PARLIAMENT (Rajya sabha) and he is on the "tape" so it should be legal. Surely they knew that the lady is not his wife.

That is one of the reasons why we have a stable country and not one filled with concentration camps.

Assam: Violence in Barak Valley over assault on Congress MLA Rumi Nath

Karimganj/Guwahati: The assault on Congress MLA Rumi Nath sparked off violent protests and a bandh in south Assam's Barak Valley on Sunday as police resorted to lathicharge and apprehended five persons involved in the attack.

Tension prevailed for the second day in Barak Valley over the assault of the MLA and her second husband Zakir Hussain as violence was reported from several areas.

"Five persons suspected to have been involved in the attack on the woman MLA have been arrested from here," Karimganj district Superintendent of Police Pradip Pujari said.

Supporters of Nath pelted stones and damaged two buses of the Assam State Transport Corporation in Karimganj.

Eight minority organisations, including Ahl-e-Sunnat, called for a 12-hour bandh in Hailakandi district today.

The outfits called for action against persons responsible for the assault on Nath and her husband and also demanded that government take steps to protect the minority communities.

The bandh was total and normal life in the district was disrupted, official sources said.

Meanwhile, in Srikona in Cachar district, police resorted to a mild lathi-charge on supporters of Nath, who had resorted to a road blockade.

Nath, who represents Borkhola constituency in Cachar, and her second husband were beaten up and injured on Friday night in a hotel by a group of people who were angry over her second marriage without having divorced her first husband.

The MLA and her second husband, who were escorted to Guwahati, have received medical treatment and were reported to be out of danger.

Nath has filed an FIR with the police alleging that a mob had attacked her on "political motivation".

    It is strange actually,
    a) She commits a crime.
    b) She accepted she did it (married without a divorce and got humped before and after the second marriage)
    c) So she accepted that she did something which as per constitution is illegal,

So why cant the assembly dump her, that has to be proved too? SHE SAID IT..

This is how ridiculous our system is, we have to prove again and again,, Now just drawing some parallels.

Why is N.D. Tiwari who was having fun with some young women in the Governors bunglow removed from his position?
    a) For all I know it is nD Tiwaris private life (like some member said here)
    b) He was not abetting prostitution, because there was no proof that the girls were paid.
    c) He was with more than one woman on bed, It does not say in our Law that one cannot sleep with more than one woman the same time..
So why the hell was he removed from Governors position..

When you hold a public office, your life does not remain private anymore.

When you are MLA or MP or rather a public servant your travel, your staying cost, telephone and electricity bills are either free or subsidised so much that it is grand auto theft, so if you are getting paid for the public benefit and running for PUBLIC office, you have to ensure that whatever you do does respect that public office. If you cannot, resign and lead a private life.

When you are lawmakers, you are supposed to be models that the people look at like Lal Bahadur shastri etc, do we have a politician of that calbre now? Sorry to say, but if in India we remove one law that "person holding public office cannot be beaten up" next day you might see most of MLA/MPs in Government hospitals.. well behaved.

Due to the entire central government of congress muddled in corruption (and yes NOT PROVEN YET AND CANNOT BE PROVEN EVER) I do see that if people want to get REAL justice it would be mob justice, because they do not believe the judiciary system. Not for its fairness or for the time frame, after all justice delayed is justice denied.

Why Afzal Guru and Kasab are not hanged yet, are they not proven guilty? What the hell was the cook president doing? making new recipes for Antonia? Does she not know how many people were killed during the two attacks. The people who died were either innocent or those who took their duty to the highest level of possible Sacrifice. JUSTICE DELAYED IS JUSTICE DENIED.

If you do not have the guts to enforce justice, get out of the way of people who want to have justice their own way, because you had a chance and you failed to deliver..
This as per me will be the principle that will rise "If you do not have the guts to enforce justice, then get out of the way" and do not criticise their way, because when you have a chance to mete out justice, YOU FAILED BLATANTLY"

Yes, we are STABLE COUNTRY, but did you notice that while we are stable, everything else around is going up?
And you notice that though everything within our vicinity is stable, but everything else is going up, and thats the point when you know. WE ARE NOT STABLE BUT WE ARE SINKING, but you do not realise it because you are looking at your shoes on your feet and they are there itself, STABLE,
