China military official says war with US under Donald Trump 'becoming practical reality'

Sino-US relations are becoming more tense under America's new administration.

War with the US under Donald Trump is “not just a slogan” and becoming a “practical reality”, a senior Chinese military official has said.

The remarks were published on the People’s Liberation Army website, apparently in response to the aggressive rhetoric towards China from America's new administration.

They communicated a view from inside the Central Military Commission, which has overall authority of China’s armed forces.

Quoted in the South China Morning Post, the official from the Commission’s Defence Mobilisation Department wrote: “A war ‘within the president’s term’ or ‘war breaking out tonight’ are not just slogans, they are becoming a practical reality.”

The official also called for military deployments in the tense South and East China Seas and for a missile defence system to guard the Korean peninsula, another regional hotspot, the Post reported.

The US should also reconsider its strategy in the Asia-Pacific region, the official wrote.

Mr Trump and members of his administration have consistently voiced a hard line against China. Mr Trump has branded the country a “currency manipulator” and accusing the country of underhand trading and economic tactics.

But more significantly in security terms, Mr Trump has also ignored the US’s longstanding ‘One China’ policy, publicly engaging with the President of Taiwan, Tsai Ing-wen, in a move that was hugely antagonising for Beijing.

China strongly regards Taiwan as part of its territory and the US has tacitly respected this for decades, but Mr Trump signalled a departure from this policy.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has also advocated a US naval blockade of artificial Chinese islands in the South China Sea – which Beijing could interpret as an act of war.

Rex Tillerson calls China's actions in the South China Sea 'illegal'
Further suggestions China is preparing for conflict emerged this week, with unconfirmed reports the military has moved long range missiles closer to the north east border in Heilongjiang province -- within firing range of the US.

Chinese social media has carried pictures claiming to show the Dongfeng-41 advanced intercontinental ballistic missile system near the Russian border.

Provocative state-run tabloid The Global Times suggested the People’s Liberation Army could have leaked the photos on social media as a warning to Mr Trump.

However, Chinese President Xi Jinping has also recently called for the reduction of nuclear weapons.

Well he's right on all counts. Currency manipulator - check. Underhand tactics - hello take a look at copyright breaches in China. If you want to examine China's economic rise and technological process it was entirely the US's doing. They gave them manufacturing jobs, and with that they gave them designs, technology and intellectual property that they could knock-off and copy. If they'd done that with the USSR they'd have lost the Cold War without a shadow of a doubt.

As regards Taiwan. The idea of Taiwan becoming part of China is unpalatable. Most motherboards are made there and a whole other shit-load of computer stuff. Nobody wants their computer to have a PRC backdoor into it. **** that!

But look at this the other way. Suppose China stop manipulating its currency, its currency would appreciate heavily with its nominal GDP most probably surpassing that of USA. Now this would make Chinese exports costlier, but it would not help USA much as (a)Most of manufacturing jobs could not return to USA as Americans are unwilling to work on wages that would make their products competitive (b)Other countries would still be making products cheap; and it would make Yuan more attractive and erode dollar's position as world's reserve currency thus undermining US economy.

Sometimes threat do become reality. And in case of China this is quite possible as Chinese communist party can go to any extent to legitimize their rule. They have huge debts, economy is on the downturn, socio economic divide is on rise, demand for democracy which was crushed in 1989 in Tianman square could rise again if economy falters, all these things can push communist party to take drastic steps like starting a war with India or other smaller neighbors which could lead to show down between both. Of course the situation can lead to world war 3 scenario.

Whatever it is...If it spirals out of control.... It's gonna be messy....Real messy.....

    With Regards to India...
We need some Next Level Diplomacy and Decision Making to Maneuver through the situation in a way that is most beneficial to us... However It's easier said than done....We have some very serious challenges in the upcoming couple of decades....

The next couple of decades will decide the intricacies of the upcoming multi-polar world order...(something which is bound to happen...)

The decisions that the US...PRC, India and other major powers make, will be the deciding factors in what exactly our and their place and role will be...

I am glad, humbled, proud, fascinated and excited that I will be witness to the rise of my country and such a transformation of our world ....

( That is if.....I don't get run over by a truck or something....   )

It's not about Trump at all...This election showed the wide spread contempt and disconnect the people of the US share with the Administration....

It has weakened the position and perception of the United States....A country which was expected to be the leader in uniting others....Has widespread divisions and within itself.....

Anyway...I wish the Americans well...And I hope their people get the change (prosperity) they voted for...

    PS:

The Americans have brought some Cool technologies , Movies, Songs.. Actors..(DeNiro, Al Pacino, Edward Norton, Eastwood, Harvey Keitel..Denzel Washington...)...And great events like the Moon Landing to us......I hope they find their unity back....

You ignore the effects of that. Jobs wouldn't have headed in their direction, if wages were higher, which they effectively would be if the currency wasn't undervalued. Nor would they be able to export as much.

What if they just never left the US in the first place? Wouldn't sell? Give me a break, the stuff being made in China, and the companies making them were on the go well before the they moved manufacturing to China. What would they be making cheap? Not technology items. As regards the Yuan being the reserve currency, you'll find that not many people are willing to use the currency of a Communist dictatorship as a reserve.
