The move signals a sharper polarisation of Beijing’s ties in the subcontinent, following the Doklam crisis.
China on Thursday slammed India for apparently building a new road in the Ladakh sector, but lavished praise on Pakistan as its key partner.

The move signals a sharper polarisation of Beijing’s ties in the subcontinent, following the Doklam crisis.

“It seems that Indian side is slapping its own face,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said, in response to reports that India was building a road between Marsimik La to Hot Spring. The area is not far from the Pangong lake in Ladakh, where there was an unarmed clash between Indian and Chinese troops earlier this month.

Ms. Hua’s warning that the decision to build a road could boomerang on India, came in the backdrop of the crisis in the Doklam plateau, where Indian and Chinese troops are engaged in a lengthy standoff. “Now, the current road construction in that area by the Indian side is not conducive to peace and stability in that area. It will not help with settlement of the current situation,” Ms. Hua said, referring to the faceoff in the Sikkim sector.

The spokesperson also accused India of adopting a contradictory stance, in view of New Delhi’s objections to Chinese road construction in the Doklam plateau, which had triggered the faceoff. “Indian side is closely following China’s road building recently but India’s action itself has proven that the Indian side says something and does another,” she added. “Its words are complete contradictions to its deeds on the border issues,” she observed.

The foreign ministry also accused India of changing the status quo by stressing that the “western section of China- India boundary has not been delimited and two sides have agreed to uphold peace and tranquility before the disputes are settled”.

In sharp contrast to its position on India, China on Thursday backed Pakistan as its partner in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Ms. Hua also cited a conversation on Wednesday between US

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and China’s state councilor Yang Jeichei, where he commended Pakistan on its role in Afghanistan. The phone call followed U.S. President Donald Trump’s South Asia policy statement, where he had cited shortcomings in Pakistan’s counter-terrorism approach.

But quoting Mr. Yang, the spokesperson said: “We also value Pakistan’s role in the Afghanistan issue and respect Pakistan’s sovereign and reasonable security concerns.”

Separately, when asked to comment on this week’s visit to China by Pakistan’s foreign secretary Tehmina Janjua, Ms. Hua said that China and Pakistan are “all-weather strategic partners and we have always given each other support for our core concerns and interests”.

“Against the current backdrop we appreciate Pakistan’s efforts in insuring security… in CPEC”.

The visiting foreign secretary, apparently also assured the Chinese side that there was no shift in Islamabad’s policy towards Beijing after the exit of Nawaz Sharif as Prime Minister. Ms. Hua said the

visiting official underscored that “China is Pakistan’s ‘iron friend’ and it will never change its policy towards Pakistan no matter how the domestic situation varies. It will remain committed to CPEC and

promoting advancement in our bilateral relations.”

Ms. Janjua’s arrival in Beijing follows the visit to Islamabad by China’s Vice Premier Wang Yang, to celebrate 70 years of Pakistan’s independence.

Even China is in debt to the tune of 300% of its GDP. Once American money stops flowing to Pakistan, we'll see who will fund Pakistan. Obviously not China. This happened last time when Nawaz Sharif went to Beijing once he was warned of fund cuts by the US several years back.

Lol, We are actually mocking them here. Doing exacly what they did and making them give the same statement we give. "Status quo", "peace and tranquility", "disputed" words we used in our MEA press release on Doklam standoff. This could be a leverage in negotiation.

Chinese are the same everywhere with the exception of a few. Even in Malaysia on May 13, 1969, thousands of Chinese were slaughtered in Kuala Lumpur by the majority Moslem Malays as the rich Chinese insulted the poor Malays who are the native inhabitants of Malaysia after an election victory. Serves them right. Now the Chinese are much better behaved. With the New Economic Policy (NEP) which gives the native majority Malays reservations in government jobs and universities, they have became more affluent now. Chinese still control 65% (35% population) of the economy while the Malays control 32% (60% population) and Indians 3% (6% population) of the economy. Malays are very nice and friendly people while the Chinese are an arrogant lot unless if you have some business with them.

It is a myth that China has a lot of money. The fact is China has a huge debt to the tune of 300% of its GDP. It has spent a lot of money building its armed forces. At this rate it definitely cannot afford a war let alone alienate itself and lose its business which is its lifeline. India should boycott and ban Chinese goods to teach the Chinese a lesson. The same should be done by the rest of the world especially the Western powers (US, UK, France, Germany etc.) and its allies (South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam etc.).

Xinjiang and Tibet are being occupied illegally by China and thus should be liberated as Moslem Turkestan and Buddhist Tibet (under Dalai Lama). Xinjiang Uyghur Moslems are oppressed by the Chinese and not allowed to pray in mosques and not allowed to fast during the Ramadan month. The same with Tibetan Buddhists who are being oppressed by the Chinese as well. United Nations should change the One China policy and recognise Taiwan as a separate sovereign republic and the mainland China (without Xinjiang and Tibet) as a newly formed democratic China.

And Pakistan supports China despite the fact China oppresses the Uighur Moslems in Xinjiang by not allowing them to pray in mosques and fast during the Ramadan fasting month. But Pakistan considers India an enemy despite the fact full freedom of worship is given to the Indian Moslems. What an infidel hypocrite Pakistan is.

Actually they slapped themselves( mundane choice of metaphors btw) and the same can be said for all their highways and railways being furiously built near the undemarcated LAC ( btw perfect <5 min targets for Brahmos:devilwork:). As for pork all it takes is the US sanctioning Chinese banks and all CPEC nonsense comes to a full-halt. The yuan bill is too small for use even as toilet paper internationally.

In the event of a global war with China viz. with India via the border and with US via North Korea, trade blockade with China will paralyze China effectively as trade is China's lifeline. India's boycott of Chinese products will affect China's economy significantly. The same can be said of boycott by Western countries like US, UK, France, Germany etc. and its allies like South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam etc.

Looking into the past, if only Jawaharlal Nehru had listened to J.R.D.Tata's advice and opened up the economy like the West, US and other allies would have supplied India with the cutting edge weaponry and India would have become a superpower by now without the need of looking up to Russia (erstwhile Soviet Union) for weaponry. It is all Nehru's blunder into socialism (which the West disliked) and the political leaders after that. He is also to blame for India's blunder in the 1962 war with China as he did not build up India's military as he trusted China too much. Anyway, it is not too late especially after Sri P.V.Narasimha Rao's liberalisation of India's economy in the 90's and futher economic reforms by Sri Narendra Modi is paving India into a new era. It must be taken into note that China opened their economy via Deng Xiao Peng in the 80's after Mao's death which otherwise (China's economy) was on the verge of collapse. Another reason China economy had grown rapidly is that China is ruled by the Communist Party which has full powers to implement any reforms without any bureaucratic red tapes unlike India, which still has vestiges of socialism. However, with Modiji, it is all about to change. Jai Hind!
