World Nuclear News reports China's 34th nuclear power plant at Ningde has entered commercial operation (see first citation below).

World Nuclear Association has a full list of China's 34 operational nuclear power plants (see second citation below). The information is current as of July 2016. I think more Chinese nuclear power plants are coming online later this year.

As per the above article, this plant is built in Fuqing city .... In one of the company I worked in the past, our Outlook directory had an individual working in China, his name was Fu Quin Hu.

World Nuclear Association lists 35 operating Chinese nuclear power plants for 2016.

In October 2016, the Fuqing 3 One-Gigawatt domestically-designed CPR-1000 nuclear power plant became operational.

Nuclear Power in China | World Nuclear Association

"Mainland China has 35 nuclear power reactors in operation, 21 under construction, and more about to start construction."

China's Fuqing 6 nuclear reactor has a "boron injection tank" as a super safety feature.

China's Fuqing 6 nuclear reactor is currently under construction. The "boron injection tank" was recently installed.

If the control rods cannot be inserted into the reactor for whatever reason, there is a liquid 20-tonne boric acid solution to halt the nuclear reaction by absorbing neutrons. This is a very clever idea. In essence, the boric acid solution serves the function of a back-up control-rod system to stop nuclear fission.

Chinese nuclear reactors are extremely safe due to redundant safety features.

"The boron injection tank - weighing almost 20 tonnes - will contain a boric acid solution that can be injected into the reactor in the event of a severe accident to shut down the chain reaction in case the control rods are not capable of being inserted into the core."
