Infrastructure built across China no doubt is marvelous. In the past two decades, central banks on the instruction of central government gave unlimited funds to rebuild cities across the country. No wonder, with trillions of dollars getting pumped without an assured ROI, it has created several affects. It has created multi-millionaires in corrupt bureaucracy, multi-billionaires in construction industry mafia along with creating a stock market and property bubble. The prices are going up and up. Around 2012 there was an estimated 60 million new homes lying vacant and unoccupied in China. This was estimated based on the past six months of electricity bill paid on these properties, which was zero.

So, essentially, this mirage is created out of intense monetary policy pumping and speculation - both in the stocks as well as residential and commercial properties, backed by the central banks. That is the reason why the Chinese central banks have become of monstrous size claiming to have massive assets on balance sheet which are absolutely bad with unpaid debts. It is only a question of time when China can no more keep kicking the can of worms down the road.

Most of the fund investing in Chinese cities infrastructure came from local cities's tax revenue, land transfer income and bank loans.
