US is at least 2 decades ahead of other rivals Europeans when it comes to Electronics and Avionics and also Jet Engines for fighters and Chinese lag even Russians who lag a decade behind Europeans. US flew stealth fighters in 1980's with f-117 earliest stealth fighter, B-1 bombers with LO, and F-22 in 1990's with AESA radar Europeans are only catching up and Russians no where near working AESA.

What they were able to copy is body of F-35 and not the engines and electronics and avionics, it's like copying IPHONE body just like Chinese brands OPPO & VIVO are doing but are no where as refined as IPHONE. A body shell does not make a fighter it is the Engine, Electronics and Avionics that make a Fighter. Just look at Rafale even though it looks like a 4.5 gen fighter it sports 5th gen. Engine & Avionics with VLO capabilities same as F-35 and after GaN Aesa & Nxt Gen Spectra & Dedira it will be as stealthy as F-22.

Other examples are Silent F-15, F-18 Advanced and block 70 F-16 that sports 5th gen technologies and are way ahead than this TIN CAN J-20.

The Chinese stole incomplete designs, the software of the F-35 still isn't complete 9 years after the bulk of the hacking incident. They got technical data, non-classified designs, basic stuff but the F-35 has changed in ways that limited the severity of the Chinese espionage. However even non-classified technical designs help, such as cooling systems for engines, which given the J-20's exposed engine arrangement, is something it'll need to incorporate given the engine's high IR signature. The engines show no consideration for radar stealth.

They are also reported to have stolen non-classified data on SM-6 and THAAD; Chinese analogues are based around the S-XXX series rather then US Standard or THAAD. Some critical, but ultimately non-impactful data was compromised as well. The air refueling schedules of the U.S. Pacific Command, which have obviously since been changed and updated and information on Transportation Command’s Single Mobility System, which again, has been changed where reportedly hacked. They were mostly inconsequential inclusion which were problematic during the time of the hack, but are no longer an ongoing concern.

The J-20 is actually a pretty good aircraft. It's more of an interceptor then a fighter like the F-22 or multi-role platform like the F-35. Being big it seems optimized not to go up against the Super Hornet or F-35 themselves, but their carrier bases, refueling aircraft and command and control nodes using its high frontal stealth optimization to sneak up on allied assets and launch PGMs or AShMs, as well as provide long-range A2A capabilities.

The J-20 should be thought of as a modern version of aircraft like the SU-15 or MiG-31, coupling long-range weapons with high-powered sensors for stand-off engagements.

Steps have been ongoing to negative the effectiveness of stealth platforms for sometime. Several E-2D have been deployed in the East Asia theater recently, among other steps taken.

We aren't overly concerned about the J-20.

The J-20's current engines are interim, like the PAK FA's. They are working on a new engine.

Also, the J-20 isn't 'big' either, it's at least smaller than the Flanker. J-20 alongside the J-15.

The J-20 is most likely smaller than the PAK FA.

Our armed forces have no tradition of speaking thrash for political reason. J 20 is really a junk and no cause of concern for Indian armed forces.

Some other photos of J-20. I don't know how it performs in the air force, but at least it looks good to me.

Well, why to use costly ammunition when our bullet is enough for it.

Might be too fast for Bullets.... lol
Chinese still lack tech development to envision a proper 5th Generation Fighters... But who cares, appearance or show is what needed in posturing.
