According to "siegecrossbow," you can almost make out the number "2001" on the nose of the plane in the third photograph.

It may be a necessary sacrifice on China's J-XX since the engines are, unfortunately, not as powerful as Western ones. Canards are there to enhance manueverability.

I've heard that RAM coatings nowadays can absorb almost 99% of all radar waves. Shape is increasingly becoming irrelevant me hears.

    Advanced radar-cross-section reduction measure?

Did the designers try to reduce the apparent size of the air intakes that would be visible to an enemy fighter by creating a bulge in the airplane nose? In other words, is it an advanced radar-cross-section reduction measure?

note that the engines are not thrust vectoring.....and engines might be ws 10/15 considering the size of the intakes....

Guys don't u think the pic showing frontal portion is luking a little weird....something is wrong with the pic....

Skywatcher: "I believe that those bulges to the back of the nose will be diverterless supersonic intakes (DSI)."

dingyibvs: "No, it looks like bumps for DSI and it definitely looks like it has DSI now."

WS-15 will feature thrust vectoring, so either WS-10 or AL-31 is used right now for flight testing.

    J-20 not using 117S

Check the tail on both aircraft. J-20 is obviously using the Taihang engine, not Saturn.

And 117S right now is the most-advanced engine for the Russians. I don't think they would sell it to us!

Note: Thank you to "ChineseTiger1986" for the insight and post.
