PATNA: The Columbia Business School (CBS) of Columbia University has invited chief minister Nitish Kumar at its 7th India Business Conference on April 1 to be held in New York.

The conference organizers have requested him to deliver keynote speech on "The urgency of Inclusive Growth and my vision for Bihar."

The invitation letter has been delivered to the CM, who has reportedly asked his secretariat to work out the plan and explore the possibility of his US travel. This is the second invitation extended to Nitish for foreign trip this year. Last week, Chinese envoy Zhang Yan called on the CM and invited him to visit China.

India Business Conference, 2011, chair Saurabh Malpani said the theme of the conference is `India: An Honest Conversation.' "It will be an honour for the students and faculty at Columbia Business School to host you at the conference and learn from your experience of turning around Bihar's growth to highest in the country," he said.

The business school also plans to do a case study on the success story of Bihar and the leadership qualities of Nitish Kumar to teach the concept of inclusive growth and turnaround management. "The conference will also provide a great opportunity to showcase a new resurgent Bihar to the world, including Nobel Prize winners, and further attract the academicians to study and write about Bihar and you, the leader," Malpani added.

Others invited to speak at this conference include Sanjay Jha, CEO, Motorola Corporation, Ramadorai, vice-chairman, Tata Consultancy Services, world renowned investor Bruce Greenwald, and CBS professor Jagdish Bhagwati.

India Business Conference is uniquely positioned as the premier India focused conference in New York to facilitate discussion and dialogue surrounding business opportunities and challenges in the country. Last year's conference drew over 600 professionals and students interested in learning about India, the country which continues to transform into an economic powerhouse.

The previous India focused conferences had speakers like former finance minister Yashwant Sinha, former minister for disinvestment Arun Shourie, former minister of state for external affairs Shashi Tharoor and Bombay Stock Exchange CEO Madhu Kannan, among others.

The Columbia University is consistently ranked among the top three universities in the US (others are Harvard and Yale). The fourth oldest university of the US has 93 Nobel laureates and four Presidents of the United States among its alumni.
