Well that is again a circular argument

i can argue that the parts of the bearing i.e. bearig cage, collars, rollers etc are outsourced by the bearing cos and made in INIDA and most probably in RAJKOT - GUJARAT

but then again if you are knowledgeable enough of the issue - you can argue that the special steel used in making those parts is most probably (50%) imported and not domestic - there are only 5-6 cos in the world who make Bearing Grade special steel for mid - high range applicatons bearings

And in the bearings industry it takes atleast 1-1.5 years to change a bearing supplier (outsourced manufacturer )

and something around 1-3 years to change suplliers / mahufacturers of materials such as Steel

PM hands over HAL's Dhruv helicopter to Nepal | Business Standard News

PM hands over HAL's Dhruv helicopter to Nepal
The copter will be used by Nepalese Army, has also been exported to Maldives and Ecuador
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today handed over an indigenous Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) — Dhruv — built by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to the Prime Minister of Nepal Sushil Koirala at Kathmandu. The copter will be used by the Nepalese Army.

“This is in line with PM’s thrust on ‘Make in India’ and the government’s policy of neighbourhood,” said R K Tyagi, Chairman, HAL. The company’s technical support team is positioned at Kathmandu to provide maintenance and logistics support. Earlier, India had supplied two Dhruv helicopters to Nepalese Army in November last year, added Tyagi.

Dhruv helicopter in the Mark-III version with Shakti engines, glass cockpit and avionics would benefit Nepal, as it has a mountainous terrain and adverse environmental conditions.

The helicopter has aided in both military and civil operations. It is designed to meet the requirements of both military and civil operators. Dhruv has also been exported to Ecuador, Mauritius and Maldives. The Ecuador Air Force (FAE) operates five Dhruv helicopters with their president choosing to fly in one of them. Dhruv is, according to HAL, particularly useful in meeting the arduous tasks in difficult terrains.

Dhruv is a multi-role, multi-mission new generation helicopter in the 5.5 tonne weight class and meets the US’s Federal Aviation Authority specifications. It has demonstrated its capability in long distance flights, vertical climb and manoeuvring. Dhruv is an all-weather helicopter which can carry 10-16 people at heights of 10,000 feet.

The helicopter, which can cost anywhere between Rs 60-80 crore depending on the customisations, is presently exported to at least three other countries, including the Maldives and Ecuador.

Dhruv problems drag on for 6 years

The Dhruv helicopter crashed in a treatment plant wastewater to be built in the neighborhood Tereré in Tena (Napo). The noise scared the workers and neighbors. Official reports revealed that the aircraft took off from Center Operations Sector 2 for travel to Guayaquil. Pilots Andrés Davalos and Hernán Soberon, 35 and 38, and the mechanical Ángel Moreno (38) and Henry Toapanta (35) were injured. In the afternoon, the Journal came to the area of the incident. A group of soldiers cordoned off the site and analyzed what could have happened. Witnesses also reported what they saw. "I was welding and suddenly felt a strong wind over my head and a strange noise. Then I realized that the aircraft was approaching towards the ground and ran. The curved helicopter descended in low speed and crashed head-on into the creek, "Chavez told Stalin 29 years. The impact of the fuselage on the floor is then heard. It took 20 seconds and dozens of soldiers fell to the aid of the four crew members of the ship. The apparatus and white smoke emanated firefighters arrived. The soldiers reached to rescue pilots and three minutes later, the Dhruv exploded. In the accident area formed a flame of seven meters. Gradually, firefighters controlled the situation.

Dhruv is the fourth falling to earth in the last six years. Ecuador bought in 2008 seven of these devices to the Indian company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). In fact, after the acquisition, the Ecuadorian Air Force is among the "major international clients" of that company. Pilots Malaysia, Thailand, Surinam, Namibia and Vietnam also used HAL ships. However, the quality of the Dhruv was questioned since the contract between the company and the Ministry of Defence was signed on August 5, 2008. The criticisms fired a year later. On 27 October 2009 the first Indian aircraft crashed. It was during a military ceremony in exaeropuerto of Quito. That made it possible to detect irregularities that occurred in the purchase of these devices. The contract 2008-d-006 states that the acquisition is finalized during the emergency period declared the current government to the Ecuadorian Air Force. Javier Ponce, as head of the Ministry of Defense at the time, endorsed the transaction. In that business India's HAL was awarded a contract for $ 45.2 million. Ecuador made a first payment of USD 30 million. The advance was delivered despite the FAE and Defence met some parts of the aircraft did not meet the technical specifications of the contract. The Commission for Reception Helicopter Dhruv established that three of the five aircraft that entered the country, engines and propellers were manufactured in 2007.

The contract required were also lacked 2008. demister system air or with viewers night of last generation. And it was identified that the approach warning system did not work properly grounded. In addition, they had the FAR and JAR certifications. The two flight safety licenses are issued by the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States (US). A week after the fall of the first Dhruv, Ponce summoned the press to the Ministry of Defence. There he admitted that "there was a contradiction between the technical and the legal" in the purchase of seven aircraft. In November, in an interview with TRADE, Ponce said that despite the breach of contract, these "were not indispensable for helicopter operations." He added that "a weakness of the FAE was detected to prepare the contracts. Do not think it's a mistake a person, but it is a theme structure of the institution to be better. "Despite these facts, in January 2010 the Accident Investigation Board (JIA) concluded that the mishap occurred by 2009 human error. Expand Official of the Ecuadorian Air Force analyzed what could have happened. Photo: Vicente Costales / TRADE. The report found that the co-pilot of the aircraft made "a turn of more than 45 degrees, turning ceiling helicopter". The final document stated that after reviewing the black box of the ship was determined that the passenger was at fault for the accident. On February 22, 2014, another Indian aircraft fell in Chimborazo. Three soldiers died. That same day there was an all JIA to analyze the causes of the accident, but so far has not disclosed what FAE was what happened. Yesterday, January 27, 2015, a new board was formed to analyze the fall of the fourth Dhruv. Military collected early indications. They interviewed the workers and took their pictures. They agreed to talk to this Journal.

Nearby, dozens of residents crowded around the place where the accident occurred and this was surrounded with yellow ribbons with the word "danger". FAE soldiers armed with rifles, sheltered place. "I was in (construction) when we were asked to get out early because he started out black smoke from the ship. After a loud explosion was heard, "recounted one of the employees working at the plant. At night, Daniel Sandoval, medical director of the Hospital José María Velasco Ibarra de Tena, said the nursing home also became a military fifth, identified as Byron Tarco, 25. He was near the helipad when the accident happened and came to help their peers. "Patients arrived stable, however, showed signs of suffocation caused by inhalation of toxic gases from the fuel. They came with first degree burns. "The officer who had the largest burn Moreno was injured in the back and buttocks. He Toapanta and Davalos were taken to Quito for a more thorough check.

FAE officials visited them. In context In the last month, two Dhruv helicopters had an accident in Ecuador. One in Chongón near Guayaquil and another yesterday in the Tereré neighborhood in Tena (Napo). The Ecuadorian Air Force formed a board to investigate this incident.

Presently Ecuador has grounded the remaining 3 Dhruvs.

Process to return them to HAL will commence shortly.

Hopefully IAF and IA will now phase these junks out and cancel all orders.
