Why do they always want to start from the top of a Mountain... One should start from the base and then reach the top.. If they try to get everything the first time, we will keep facing delays.. Why we always want a version2 and ignore version1?? BTW good development..

Excellent news indeed. Curious to find out who will be DRDOs partner for this project. I don't think it will be HAL this time. All in all, better days ahead.

    Good Day all!

I will be dancing if the promised surveillance, endurance and availability targets are met. This would be a big add on.

I just wish they stick to the plans , and don't jump on to its armed version keeping the baseline half baked thus creating a LCA type situation.

What is the update on the UAV programme?

Design of Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle (UCAV) Ghatak is coming up very well. The dry engine of the Kaveri will power Ghatak. The second aspect is stealth. If you look at the shaping of the existing UCAV like B2 it is designed in such a way that it deflects the energy and can remain undetected. The coating on the UCAV only amounts to 20 per cent of the stealth.

I have given ADA time till April to produce a life-size model of UCAV (fully metallic, without any coating for RCS reduction) and measure its RCS (Radar Cross Section) to understand its detection range. RCS reduction and painting will simultaneously proceed thereafter. As far as the electronics part is concerned, if all payloads of Rustom UAV are certified, we will use them as it is in Ghatak programme. We will know the acceptance on the Rustom payloads by next year

The Drone Department Till Now has been disappointing....

The Whole Nishant Fleet Crashed (How is this even Possible)

The Rustom - 2 MALE UCAV could not be realised (despite years of delays) so the Program was repurposed to Surveillance and Recon only...And renamed TAPAS (Even that's not fully ready yet...)

There have been some small successful drones...But Nothing Major Yet...

The Project Ghatak is something to look forward to but definitely not something coming in the immediate future.....It's directly under the PMO so it definitely has some strategic angle to it....But I won't expect it to be ready anytime before 2025-2030...

What is our current HALE/MALE UCAV project....Is there one...!?

What UAVs are in operation today with the Indian Armed Forces?

We operate several smaller UAVs including Black Hornet and Raven.

Aladin used to be around but I think Raven supplanted it.

The S-100 is being trialed at Andøya as well.

A high endurance maritime patrol UAV could really be useful, but currently there are no requirements for such.

    So what're you guys using?
