Penis swinging contest is getting boring. Some people swank about the aircraft which their country can only dream of. Better shut up and stay on topic...

India's defence spending to GDP is less than that of Poland. Big deal.

India spends about 15 billion a year, Poland about 10 billion a year, of course only about 37 million people live in Poland

The speculation what you typed as very strong rumour once. At one point of time there were rumours about offering to Indian navy (when INS Vikramaditya was in Russia undergoing its upgrades), the Indian Navy at that time wanted something more potent than MiG-29K and Su-33 was not a choice, but then having over ordered MiG-29K the rumour sort of lost its weight. Eurofighter had offered Sea Typhoon If Indian navy was interested and SAAB came up with idea of Sea gripen. You can go to posts from two years before, this very thread.

The egyptians are in no way going to either order Rafale M (because it does not have an aircraft carrier and any such purchase would be maybe at least after 5 years) Egypt was in the market for 24 planes and showed interest in Rafales but the cost is and was not acceptable. Guess it is still so. Hence either Egypt gets desperate to order at that price, else Dassault get desperate and offers discount, or it can be window shopping. As I understand signing of the contract does not usually happen by Top Brass of defence but by Political administrators. So maybe the Top brass has gone to see the Rafale and have a demo and first hand feel of the product. Also maybe Egypt could be interested in 2nd hand Mirages from UAE and hopes to buy them at cut price (since UAE wants to give off its Mirage 2000 and then take a plane)

Nope, F2 (and not tranche 2) already had AESA jammers. Tranches are only production batches, not an equipment standard. An order of 60 Rafale is a new tranche. Standards are denominated F1,F2,F3,F3R,F4 etc...

    There's F3+ too.

Anyway, didn't F2 come with Spectra, but without the jamming capability. From what I know Spectra became fully capable only in 2006 while F2 is from 2004.

A delegation of senior Egyptian Air Force and Navy officers landed here on Dec. 10 to negotiate buying 23 to 26 Rafales, worth €3.6 billion (US $4.4 billion), and two DCNS multimission frigates, worth €1.8 billion, La Tribune reported.
Qatar is in advanced talks for the Rafale, the business website reported.
Next year, the French Air Force expects to receive the fighter needed to form a second nuclear squadron, expected to be operational in 2018, Mercier said.
On the technology front, a future version of the Rafale is expected to show “a major evolution” with high datalink capacity and an active electronically scanned array radar fitted in the skin of the fighter, instead of the present front-facing radar. That new capability is expected in 2020 to 2025 and would allow an active electronic warfare and a very high data rate for communications, he said.

HMS Astute noisily welcomed the recent UK performance but we can see from the chart that this is a catch to poor past performance.

The administration of President Francois HOLLANDE has implemented greater state support for employment, the separation of banks' traditional deposit taking and lending activities from more speculative businesses, increasing the top corporate and personal tax rates, including a temporary 75% tax on wages over one million euros, and hiring an additional 60,000 teachers during his five-year term. In January 2014 HOLLANDE proposed a “Responsibility Pact” aimed primarily at lowering labor costs in return for businesses’ commitment to create jobs. Despite stagnant growth and fiscal challenges, France's borrowing costs have declined in recent years because investors remain attracted to the liquidity of France’s bonds.

I havn't verify, but for me there is strong hardware modification from F1 to F2 and only software modification from F2 to F3 (or plug and play hardware improvement like AESA antenna or OSF IT etc...). It's why we consider that all our Rafale are F3 (the software upgrade has been done) even if we have only a few AESA antenna. So SPECTRA was already with jamming capabilities with F2 but perhaps it improves with F3 software.
