no if it comes to be operational it will have no more than 1000 T/R, less than Rafale.

Yeah took a long time, but thanks to UK mainly, things will be different starting next year.
It still will be handicapped by design in some roles and the costs will remain to be high, but one has to admit that it matured impressively since Lybia, while Rafale didn't increased the edge it had and basically stayed the same. Till the F4 comes, it will be mainly export customers that improves it, while the EF could get it's final push with the P4E.

Hehe, I know what you mean, but as long it's not in operational service, it simply doesn't matter.

We know that Kuwait will be the first customer of EF, so there is no doubt on that and the EF partners have to replace older Aim120 just as French forces need to replace older MICA EM. In both cases it's a necessity, not an option.

    EF in Lybian war 2011:

    Litening 3 targeting pod and GBU 16 1000lb LGB's
    [IMG]

Limited use in CAS, because most targets were too small / light to use 1000lb bombs. Mainly supported and escorted the RAF Tornados.

    EF from 2018 onwards:

Litening 4 and 5, Damocles and Sniper targeting pods, Paveway 4 500lb LGB, Brimstone ATGM integrated.

The EF not only increases it's weapon variety in CAS, but also surpasses the weaponloads of the Tornado or the Rafale, which both were the prime strike fighters in Lybia.
It will be able to carry the shown mixed load, or up to 12 x Brimstone missiles and if the twin pylons get integrated, up to 8 x 500lb Paveway 4.

    Cruise missiles

With Storm Shadow / Taurus integrated, the EF can take over another role of the Tornado, but remains highly range limited with a single fuel tank, until CFTs will be available.

Till the end on next year as planned, for Kuwait and the replacement of Tornados.
Future capabilities come at least partially with P4E, Spear3, EW upgrade, additional radar modes and capabilities seems to be sure.
