    More than 500 fighters produced, more exports than Gripen so far and more than Rafale anyway. Let's see if the new upgrade will make new sales possible.

    If it is 2020 to 2023, furthermore with dual seaters, i'd place a fairly safe bet on Gripen C/D.

    and.... and....

    No external tanks. It's a plane made to take off from london and strike to Calais. Not more.

    @Gessler
    18 jets is not a fleet, it is a squadron. You can't efficiently operate 1 squadron of any jet.

    You underestimate the range of Storm Shadow.

    It's all they can afford. That or F-16. They can't afford 2 engines, or an air force really.

    Isn't Eurofighter a hanger queen?

    Look at Luftwaffe it's become a non entity thanks to EFT.

    Way more than 560km, that's only the official statement. It's volume is 44% larger than a Tomahawk, so even with a 50% higher SFC, I would expect it to have similar range, or as a worst case minimum easily twice that official figure.

    GBU and Brimstone it can carry with drop tanks. Also don't forget in-flight refuelling.

    All of the Luftwaffe is a non-entity and it has nothing to do with Typhoon, just the German attitude to defence spending. When you only spend 1% GDP on defence, you can't afford a proper air force.

    The Typhoon is out bombing targets in Syria and Iraq as we speak.

    I don't get the idea behind many of the small(er) European countries maintaining these token air forces.

    This is where a joint European Fighter pool would actually make sense...if not just joining NATO, spending the 2% on doing what they must (infrastructure, etc.) and just kick their feet up.
