    LOL

    1) The Su-33 is NOT the MKI, not even close to it
    2) Operating a large fighter from a medium sized carrier is a recipe for disaster- even the USN ditched their large F-14s for medium sized F-18s
    3) Carrying larger fighters limits how many fighters you can carry
    4) The proffesional IN that has operated carriers for decades was offered both and selected to fund the final development of MIG-29K, the Russian Navy followed their lead and are now replacing their Su-33s with the MiG-29K.
    5) The PLA(N) have no option other than to operate the Su-33 from their carrier, they have no suitable alternatives

You expect them to show actual ops pictures? These pics are all PR material.

True, the Su33 is bot an MKI, the J15 with canards and most likely even AESA is more than comparable to MKI and as multi role capable. Please mate, don't act likely you don't know that.

That's wrong, since they have nothing to do with each other. Different take off concepts, age and multi role limitation of the F14 and let's not forget that the USN wanted naval versions of YF22 or YF23 as well.
Again, you know the truth. Flanker with folding wings have less width than a Mig29K and the larger deck and hangar size of the carrier obviously suits the size of the fighters too.

Of course not, but I haven't seen a V22 at all so far and the pics of the Japanese carrier are rather few as well. But I hope for reports on the exercise, that gets us a better idea about capability, than these PR pics as you correctly pointed out.

Was V22 present? But how does it matter when it has nothing to do with ASW?! :azn:

That's what I wanted to know and why I asked if the V22s are therw. It's not only about ASW but also about long range SAR or anti piracy roles, where the V22 has advantages over standard helicopters. For ASW Boeing has developed a concept with dipping sonar too, but imo it would be better to use it's advantages similar to an MPA (like a mini P8 if you want), that can be operated from a carrier. All you need is a surveillance radar, a MAD maybe fitted to the tail and torpedos either externally or from the ramp.
That would increases carrier based ASW range by a huge margin and IN could cover a wider area. The combination of shore based P8I, MALE or even better HALE drones, with carrier based V22 MPAs would be great to get control in our backyard and the US could actually show that they really want us to be capable to fight PLAN.

USN beats IN in the PR game- flew at least a dozen Indian journos onto USS Nimitz for a full tour and to witness operations. Don't think an Indian journo has actually been on the Viky during flight ops thus far.

+ what an embaraasment these "journalists" are; "behind me you can see a US Navy F-18" *points to an E-2C*.:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

It was bound to happen ,as it is an exercise where they both know that they are in the sea the thing that matters is the time i.e who detects first whom and at what distance becoz it would give the 1st detector among the two to attack 1st and evade as soon as possible from counter attack

    This is naval Dogfight

2:00 the journo called the F-18 an F-21.

Edit he referred to F-18 as F-21 multiple times.

    Wtf is wrong with him.
