Mumbai. Thanks to the crores of rupees that Maharashtra government and other Indian security agencies have spent on him, Ajmal Kasab has been declared the world’s richest terrorist under 25 years of age. The list was released by business magazine Forbes earlier today, which names Dawood Ibrahim as the richest terrorist across all age groups. However, it’s the meteoric rise in the fortunes of Kasab that has attracted media and public attention.

“We hired a leading accounting firm to undertake valuation of different living terrorists, and Kasab trumped Abdulmutallab to emerge as the richest terrorist who is yet to turn 25,” managing editor of Forbes told Faking News.

In a closely fought race, Ajmal Kasab beat Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the “underwear bomber” who was caught with plastic explosives hidden in his underwear on board an international flight two years ago.

The list by Forbes surprised many readers as Abdulmutallab’s father is known to be one of the richest men in Africa, while Kasab’s father is reported to be a humble dahi-puri vendor. But Forbes editors point out that Abdulmutallab’s father had disowned his son and hence the accounting firm didn’t assume any inheritance.

“The firm took into account whatever the two young men had achieved in their personal capacities; while Abdulmutallab failed in his Christmas day bombing attempt, Kasab was successful in his 26/11 operation,” Forbes editor explained, “Also, Indian government has spent millions of dollars on his security, which was capitalized by the accounting firm into the balance-sheet of Kasab.”

Forbes editor explained that it was not the physical cash that determined the richness or the worth of a candidate. Instead, it was the market value of the assets and the future potential of a person that was taken into account.

“We see a bright future for Kasab and he is not going anywhere anytime soon, surely not till we come out with our list next year,” the Forbes editor claimed.

In terms of ready cash, physical assets, and future earning potential, Dawood Ibrahim was ranked as the richest terrorist by Forbes across all age groups. However, this didn’t come up as any surprise to the readers as recently Dawood was rumored to be one of the persons to bailout Pakistan Railways.

Forbes took up this exercise after Osama Bin Laden was killed earlier this year. Osama was widely acknowledged to be the richest terrorist of the world.

“The leadership and the crown have been transferred to the South Asian region in the post-Osama era,” Forbes editor summarized the magazine’s findings.
