Original Tejas did not have auxiliary intakes. The LSP series had them just to make up for any shortcoming in intake air flow.

Strange that even on JF-17 thread you folks are talking about LCA and the french members as usual are peddling their wares in most threads
If you want to discuss LCA, there is LCA thread. BTW HAL has selected F-414 Engine guess that closes the matter.

Increase the thrust is a solution "in force" the US method, we prefer methods "with finesse" : The Tejas is a light aircraft, it must be able to increase its performance without increasing the thrust.

I really wish you could have the insider info that I have, then these petty comments would no longer be there.
India is eager to work with USA to develop engine for Tejas II and AMCA, because India sees that the Achilles heel is the ENGINE.

Rafale matter will close soon, and then I am sure many folks here will be complaining.

The bird to watch is PAKFA / Tejas II and AMCA developments

When Kaveri failed to reach the expectations HAL/DRDO got the American engine, and so far it has worked and it has proven to be reliable,
The French on other hand were dangling, their main and only focus was Rafale and they did put conditions that "... if the Rafale contract is signed ..... " I need not say more. It did work for Mirage 2000 upgrade.

    Advice to French.

And it would be better to get a higher thrust engine and then improve the aircraft's aerodynamics to higher level. It is future-proof too.

IAF does not share the opinion on many matters, and the way they have been for the lack of better word p*mping foreign wares the present Ministry of Defence does not agree with IAF either.

BTW, please do debate abt LCA on LCA thread and not on JF-17 thread, lets not derail some other thread for sake of debate.
