While the itinerary of Ivanka has been kept a secret in view of the threat perception, a three-km radius of the summit venue has been fortified with high-level security.

    Updated: Nov 20, 2017 15:52 IST

Indian and US agencies will throw a five-tier security ring around US President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, during her three-day visit to Hyderabad for a high-profile entrepreneurship conference.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Global Entrepreneurship Summit on November 28 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre in the capital of Telangana.

Sources said the five-tier security will also be in place at the Falaknuma Palace, converted into a hotel by the Taj group, where Ivanka will attend a dinner hosted by the Telangana government.

The US Secret Service will be in charge of the first two security rings, closest to Ivanka, who is also advisor to the White House, a police source said.

India’s Special Protection Group (SPG) will take care of the third layer while the four and fifth layers will be under Telangana police’s Intelligence Security Wing, trained in counter-terror operations, and Cyberabad police.

While the itinerary of Ivanka has been kept a secret in view of the threat perception, a three-km radius of the summit venue has been fortified with high-level security.

This is only the second time the organised conference is being held outside the US since the 2015 edition held in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.

Sources in the US consulate in Hyderabad said the security arrangements for Ivanka would match that provided to US President.

Tentatively, she is expected to stay at Hotel Westin, which is closer to the GES venue. The possibility of her staying at the historic Falaknuma Palace is also not ruled out, say sources.

A US Secret Service team has made several rounds of visits to the hotels and the GES venue and reviewed security arrangements for Ivanka. They would bring their own bullet-proof vehicles for Ivanka to travel within Hyderabad, besides carrying their own specialised weapons and bringing squads of trained sniffer dogs.

“The local police have been asked to stay away from the GES venue premises and confined themselves to outer layers of security. Even senior cops will not be allowed to come in uniform at the main dais,” the sources said.

A modern control room with latest equipment is being set up to monitor the movement of the VVIPs, besides keeping a watch on security arrangements, they added.

At Falaknuma Palace, the police are going all out to make fool-proof security arrangements since it is located in the old city area and is closer to Rohingya settlements.

“Though there are reports that Ivanka might visit the historic Golconda Fort and go to Charminar area to do some shopping on November 29, there is no confirmation about her plans yet,” a source in the US consultate said.

Hyderabad was getting a makeover since past 3-4 Months to beautify it for upcoming Global Investors summit.this month, all buildings, pavements, footpaths freshly painted, new tiles and trees on roads ,no Beggars to be found anywhere in the city, Begging was made a punishable offence last month in Telangana.
Seems like TRS government took a page out of Chinese CCP handbook, they did the same during Beijing Olympics.

Educated and owners of posh apartments--that usually can’t be said about beggars. But the Hyderabad Police found two such women as they were sending beggars to rehabilitation homes.

The police are preparing for the visit of Ivanka Trump, the daughter of US president Donald Trump, and found the stories of the two women who were arguing in English with authorities at a rehabilitation home.

Several women beggars from a dargah or shrine for a Muslim religious figure at Langar Houz on the outskirts of Hyderabad were brought to Ananda Ashram at Cherlapalli jail on November 11 after the police declared begging as an offence and banned people from seeking alms on the city’s streets for two months.

Nearly 1,000 beggars have been shifted to the ashrams for Ivanka’s three-day visit to Hyderabad for a high-profile entrepreneurship conference.

“We have brought 133 women beggars to Ananda Ashram at Cherlapalli jail. And all the male beggars have been shifted to a similar ashram at Chanchalguda jail,” ashram in-charge and Cherlapalli open jail superintendent K Arjun Rao told Hindustan Times.

“When we started enquiring about their background, we found two of them a little peculiar. They were arguing with our staff in fluent English and did not appear like beggars. Upon enquiry, we were shocked to know that they were, in fact, very rich and educated,” Rao said.

Fifty-year-old Farzona claimed she holds a post-graduate degree in business administration and had worked as an accountant in London before returning to India a couple of years ago. Her son is an architect in the United States.

“She has her own apartment at Anandbagh in posh Ameerpet area in the city. She was apparently mentally disturbed after the death of her husband some time ago. Following a suggestion from a godman, she took to begging at the dargah, which is known for providing shelter for psychologically disturbed people,” Rao said.

The ashram authorities contacted her son based on the information provided by her. He was already in Hyderabad and was looking for his mother, they said.

“She was hell-bent on continuing begging at the dargah. We took an affidavit from her son and handed her over to him on the same evening,” the jail superintendent said.

Another woman, Rabiya Baseera, from Defence Colony at Langar Houz also fought with the jail authorities for bringing her to the rehab centre.

“She claimed that she was a green card holder in the USA and had huge properties in Hyderabad. However, her brothers had allegedly usurped her properties,” the jail official said.

“She lost her mental peace fighting to get back her wealth and following an advice from some of her relatives, she came to the dargah and was begging to get the mental peace,” he added.

The 44-year-old Baseera stayed in the ashram for a day before she was handed over to her relatives by the authorities.

    DHNS, Hyderabad, Nov 21 2017, 18:43 IST

    http://www.deccanherald.com/content/644034/ivanka-prefers-simple-welcome-india.html

The adviser and daughter of US President Donald Trump, Ivanka, prefers a simple welcome when she arrives at the Shamshabad airport.

While the government was gearing up to accord her a grand welcome, she prefers the welcome that would be accorded to any delegate.

Ivanka, who will be participating in the three-day Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES)-2017 on November 28 reportedly informed the Indian and Telangana governments her decision through the US Consulate.

From the airport, Ivanka will reach the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) - the venue of GES-2017 - by road, where she will address the GES along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Telangana IT minister K Taraka Rama Rao is also expected to share the dais.

During her stay, Ivanka will be accorded 5-tier security, akin to that received by the US president.

Ivanka will have her own bullet-proof, armoured vehicles, with specialised weapons and trained sniffer dogs for protection. The US secret service will be in charge of the first two rings of her security.

India's Special Protection Group (SPG) will take care of third layer. Atleast 3,500 personnel from the police, IB, Special Intelligence Branch and counter-intelligence will be in mufti in the fourth and fifth layers.

Police have installed over 500 CCTVs for the summit. The Anti-Naxal 'Greyhound' and Anti-terror 'Octopus' NSG commandos will be deployed around Hotel Taj Falaknum Palace where she will be attending a dinner.

While door-to-door searches in the vicinity of the old city have already been in place, it is believed that Ivanka and a few other delegates will be shopping at the Charminar, Lad Bazaar, and Golconda.

However, the officials are tight-lipped about her itinerary.

The state Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), which will be responsible for testing the raw material that will be used to prepare food for Ivanka, has readied three teams for the purpose.

Each team, consisting of five officials, will check food at the HICC and also at the Taj Falaknuma. Around 1,500 guests will be ferried in 40 buses from HICC to Falaknuma palace for the dinner.

The government has been decking up the city ahead of the summit, particularly the areas around the summit.

Around 1,000 beggars in the city have been moved to ashrams located in Chanchalguda and Cherlapally jails.

Ivanka Trump has asserted that the upcoming Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 being hosted by India along with the US is a testament to the “strong friendship” between the two countries. Daughter and advisor to US President Donald Trump, Ivanka is arriving on November 28 in Hyderabad to attend the three-day summit that will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Ivanka will lead the US contingent, which will highlight the theme of “Women First, Prosperity for All” and focus on supporting women entrepreneurs and fostering economic growth globally.

For the first time in its eight editions, Ivanka was quoted by PTI as saying that the summit “demonstrates the administration’s commitment to the principle that when women are economically empowered, their communities and countries thrive”.

The 36-year-old further said she very much looks forward to her visit. India, she said, is “a great friend and partner” of US. The goal of the collaboration is to grow the shared economic and security partnership, she said.

She will be participating in two panels. The plenary session will discuss the theme “Be the Change – Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership”, and the Wednesday morning breakout session will discuss “We Can Do It! Innovations in Workforce Development and Skills Training”.

Ivanka is likely to spend some time sightseeing, including a possible stop at the Charminar during her visit.

The 8th edition of the summit is being hosted by NITI Aayog in partnership with US government. The three-day summit, to be attended by 1,500 entrepreneurs from 170 countries, would have around 350 participants from US, a large number of whom are Indian-Americans. Women will represent 52.5 per cent of the entrepreneurs, investors and ecosystem supporters at the GES 2017. In fact, more than 10 countries including Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Israel will be represented by an all-women delegation, the State Department said.

Trump will be there with Modi at the inauguration ceremony on November 28 and then appear at two panel discussions at the summit, which is themed on women entrepreneurs, the next day on issues of innovations, skill and training.

“We continue to be very engaged all over the world,” the official, said, adding, “having an America First philosophy is not exclusive of collaboration, partnership and strong economic, security and social relationships around the world.”

President Trump’s America First vision has been a cause of concern around the world taken to signal isolationism and unilateralism as has been reflected in the US pulling out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Paris Accord on climate change, and threatening other multilateral groupings.

For India, it has meant pressure to cut trade deficit with the United States, and tightening of the rules applying to H-1B non-immigration work visa for high skilled workers and intense scrutiny on top Indian IT companies operating in the United States, in a move blessed by the White House.

On questions about reports of beggars being removed by Hyderabad local authorities in view of Trump’s visit, officials on the news conference call said they were “surprised” but added it was for the local authorities to answer.

To a question about intolerance of dissent, of all kinds, officials said that the US response to that had been noted in the reports on the state of human rights and other such annual findings and that the country has a rich heritage of diversity and the matter was a subject of vigorous debate internally.

Her son is an architect in the United States. Upon her husband's death some time back Farzona got traumatised and on a godman’s advice she took to begging at the shrine.

Hyderabad: India city offers cash to round up beggars
Officials in Hyderabad in southern India plan to offer citizens 500 rupees ($7.60; £5.80) to identify beggars as part of an initiative to declare the city "beggar free" after 15 December.
"We let off the able-bodied beggars after they give us an undertaking that they will not beg again. We record their biometric data and are making Aadhaar cards [biometric identification cards] for them to help us identify [them] in the future."

India and the US will continue to work together to increase economic opportunities and inclusive growth, US President Donald Trump's daughter and adviser Ivanka Trump today said, days ahead of her visit to Hyderabad for a global business summit.

Ivanka, 36, will lead a high-powered American delegation of officials, women entrepreneurs and businessmen for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) 2017 in Hyderabad, a three-day summit beginning November 28.

The summit will be attended by 1,500 entrepreneurs from 170 countries and would have around 350 participants from the US, a large number of whom are Indian-Americans.

Ivanka would deliver the keynote address at the summit, which would be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

She said that her aim for this summit is to serve as an open and collaborative environment for the exchange of ideas, to broaden networks, and to empower entrepreneurs to take their ideas and passion to the next level.

"The US and India will continue to work together to increase economic opportunities and inclusive growth. I very much look forward to my visit and to seeing Prime Minister Modi and Foreign Minister (Sushma) Swaraj once again," Ivanka told reporters on Tuesday.

Incredibly excited to be visiting India next week for the eighth annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), she said.

The summit, co-hosted by the US and India, "is a testament to the strong friendship between our two people and the growing economic and security partnership between the two nations," she said.

"Entrepreneurship, domestically and abroad, is a key priority for this administration. The US recognises innovation and entrepreneurship as essential tools for job creation, economic growth and stability across communities, countries, and regions," she said.

The summit will be attended by over 1,200 entrepreneurs, of which 350 are from the US, representing 38 US States.

"I am particularly proud of the fact that this is the first time that women will be the majority of participants at the GES. Currently, 52.5 percent of entrepreneurs will be women, attending from 127 different countries," Ivanka added.

More than 10 countries including Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Israel will be represented by an all-women delegation, the State Department had said.

According to the officials, Ivanka is likely to spend some time on sightseeing, including a possible stop at the Charminar during her visit.

Prime Minister Modi during his visit to the White House in June had invited Ivanka to visit India.

Ivanka is an American television personality, fashion designer, author and businesswoman, besides being an advocate for the education and empowerment of women and girls.

The daughter and adviser of the US President has been an executive vice president of the family-owned 'The Trump Organisation' as well as serving as a boardroom judge on her father's TV show 'The Apprentice'.

According to Tom Vajda, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, the GES will underscore the US-India partnership and the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship that our two countries share.

In addition to the 1,200 emerging entrepreneurs, the summit will also see the participation of an additional 300 investors and supporters, such as incubator and accelerator representatives, joining from around the world.

"The event will create an important platform for entrepreneurs and particularly women to pitch their ideas, build partnerships, secure funding and find their target customers.

"Both the US and India are firmly committed to promoting entrepreneurship, not just in our own two countries but around the world, because we share the belief that entrepreneurship drives economic growth and creates jobs, establishing a foundation for a more prosperous world," Vajda said.

The GES really is the preeminent annual gathering of emerging entrepreneurs, investors and policy makers from all around the world, said Michelle Bekkering, Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator and Senior Coordinator for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment.

The Hyderabad Police is making elaborate arrangements for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump’s daughter and advisor Ivanka Trump to the city next week.

During his day-long visit on November 28, Modi would inaugurate the Hyderabad metro rail project and also the three-day Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES).

Ivanka Trump would attend the eighth annual GES, which will highlight the theme ‘Women First, Prosperity for All’ this year, and focus on supporting women entrepreneurs and fostering global economic growth. Ivanka Trump will lead the US delegation at the summit.

Hyderabad police commissioner V V Srinivasa Rao told reporters today that the prime minister will arrive here on November 28 and inaugurate Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd project at Miyapur.

After inaugurating the metro rail project, he will go to the Hyderabad International Convention Centre where he will inaugurate the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

Modi and Ivanka Trump, along with 100 special guests, would also attend a special dinner at the Falaknuma Palace in the old city on November 28, he said.

The dinner will be served on a Nizam-era table at which 101 people can sit at a time. The palace is now a plush hotel. A separate dinner has been arranged for about 1,500-2,000 delegates on the lawns of the 19th century palace, Rao said.

According to available information, Ivanka Trump may attend the GES during the day on November 29 and leave the city the same night.

A meeting was held today between the US Secret Service, central government officials and the city police to discuss Ivanka Trump’s security, Rao said.

She would be using three of her own vehicles, he said. About 2,200 police personnel would be deployed for the twin events, the commissioner said.

    • Secretary of State Rex Tillerson won't be sending senior staffers along with Ivanka Trump to India for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit
    • The Summit, held next week, is put on by the state department and has often been attended by the Secretary of State in years past
    • Sources say the White House perceives Tillerson not sending any senior level State Department officials as a slight
Ivanka Trump is gearing up for a major moment on the world stage, headlining the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in India next week- but she won't have the support of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

According to CNN, Tillerson won't be sending high-level delegation to India to support her, even though the Summit is put on by the State Department, amid reported tensions between Tillerson and the White House.

'Rex doesn't like the fact that he's supposed to be our nation's top diplomat, and Jared and now Ivanka have stepped all over Rex Tillerson for a long time,' a source close to the White House told CNN. 'So now, he's not sending senior people from the State Department to support this issue. He's not supporting Ivanka Trump.'
