we ll have 10 of each kind.. and we ll pit one against the other .. just for kicks :p
oh - also, each of those 10 will have to go through the same process as MMRCA, and take 30-40 years, by which time china will have 6th gen drones

India shouldn't join this project. From what I've heard, this aircraft is going to be customized for strike. Is that right? @halloweene @CNL-PN-AA

Instead, India is better of joining a future Rafale replacement program that may come up much later. I mean, we already have our hands full with FGFA and AMCA today.

That's is now the Rafale replacement and the aim is to develop a single platform, that can be used for manned and unmanned versions.
Europe doesn't develop strike fighters anymore, but will have agility as a requirement as well (EF's 3D TVC is a given).

Depends on what level of partnership we are talking, something like Turkey, Australia or Canada in the F35, would be possible, but probably too hard to take for our ego.

All are in advanced stages of development, it's absurd to expect R&D efforts as complex as these to show results overnight. The direction is overwhelmingly positive.

    Must be a joke!

No joke. They have a JV with South Korea.

And as for development of sub systems, no we are not doing anything right now. If anything was on track, we would not have been running after AESA and Integrated Self Protection Jammer for MK1A.

South Korea, despite having less experience than us at making military radars and having started late has come up with its first functional prototype of AESA.

We are still going no where on A2A weaponry. And no start on WVR and Long Range BVR.

No start on a serious attempt to produce guidance kits.

Even the likes of Brazil has a working ARM, a working Air to Ground Missile and working WVR and BVR.

Remember my mail to Macron @PARIKRAMA? ( not that it could influence him in anyway, still... Funny, no?)

To those who think about AMCA, there is no incompatibility afaik with developing common technology bricks to be adapted further for each partner, "à la" FCAS.
