The best way to have an economic selection is to select competent companies.

When you think long-term, yes. Short-term is another issue. Beancounters only care about the short-term, which is why they are a blight on the face of this poor world.

They are development partner and Dassault would be smart to do the same in the Airbus fighter.

Neuron as Tornado and F18 replacement, Airbus fighter as EF, Rafale replacement would be the best choice for the EU.

With the Germans in the project it would be the most expensive approach.

An economic decision will cover both quality and cost.

A political decision only covers location.

Does France have the need for a strike fighter like the German FCAS in 2040?

I thought France would rather have a single air superiority design with multirole capability, like M-2000, Rafale etc.

Rafale have a huge potential of evolution with conformal antenna and "software based electronic stealth" able to progress a lot with computer power available. The Franco- British FCAS will be the ideal complement of this upgraded Rafale. So the Rafale replacement is not synchrone with German Tornado and Eurofighter.
Rafale have better performance than Eurofighter in air superiority role, so we don't need to replace it for that.
We will replace Rafale with AMCA because AMCA will have a naval version.

OK for M2000, which was primarily developped for air superiority, and later air to ground dedicated variant and ultimately a -5 variant able to do all perfectly.
Rafale was from the begining developped to do all the mission (main during the same flight) : Nuc, air superiority, reco, assaut, CAS, deep strike, and naval operation.

Okay, so France is ready for a two aircraft air force in a post 2040 world then, AMCA and FCAS.

Are you proposing two different airframes but with the same engines and systems? Or are you proposing France will use the same airframe that has been designed for AMCA by ADA?

I suppose that Dassault will cooperate with ADA and that together they will improve the design each time that the test find deficiencies.

Franco british FCAS is not a plane it's a system where Rafale Neuron Taranis and Eurofighter ..... and AMCA could participate.

It's what I have proposed to president Macron to be discussed in his next travel to India, and I receive a positive answer from Elysee Chief of Staff.

    Hope this works out.

No, I was not talking about British FCAS, I was talking about Germany's Airbus FCAS.

AFAIK, the British FCAS is a drone that combines the capabilities of French and British drone technology, whereas the German FCAS is an optionally manned strike aircraft meant to replace the Tornado after 2040.

    This one.
