Women will now be allowed in submarines. (Only SSBNs).
Three women are actually undergoing training and are planned to integrate the submarines by 2017.

Honestly hope to god the French have learnt from the USN's despicable handling of intergrating women onto their Boomers.

France is actively participating in the battle of Mosul. Not only the air force and the navy are involved with their Rafale, the "Task Force Wagram",composed of an artillery group is providing support to the iraqi-led forces in their advance.

Very interesting to see Caesar very active in hot zones. Just incase you aren't aware, Caesar is also participating in IA mounted gun system (MGS) program. I hope this real battle experience provides an edge to Caesar and it ends up a winner to be inducted in IA.

The French defense company Nexter Systems has established an industry consortium with Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) and Ashok Leyland Defence Systems, eying collaboration opportunities for the Mounted Gun System (MGS) artillery program. The group, lead by Larsen & Toubro (L&S) offer a version of the Caesar truck-mounted mobile gun system for the Indian Army.

The artillery system proposed for the MGS programme by the consortium led by L&T acting as prime contractor is a version of the CAESAR artillery system fitted onto a 6×6 Super Stallion chassis from Ashok Leyland. Unveiled for the first time at the DEFEXPO show in New Delhi in February 2014, the Indian version of the CAESAR was also on display this week at the Nexter stand at Eurosatory 2014. Nexter and L&T are already teaming for the Towed Gun System programme of the Indian ministry of defence, by proposing the TRAJAN which is under evaluation in India.

More about the IA - MGS program requirement:

    Total requirement : 814 ( 200 Off-the shelf, 614 MII )
    Cost: $ 2 Billion ( USD )

The Indian requirement is for pretty much nearly double the number of units ever produced by Nexter and will form one of the biggest fleet of MGS anywhere in the world.

    Good Day!

In the old times...it was considered unlucky to have a woman on any ship/submarine. I don't think any Navy in the world still follows that custom anymore...guess they were wrong after all. There are many advantages to having women on board. Infact, they increase the crew's chances of getting lucky.

As far as I know, the Caesar is the only MGS (wheeled SP artillery) among the competition that is airportable via C-130J. Our SuperHercs are almost exclusively used by SpecOps units, so I doubt we'd ever put it that use. But if the C-130J can take it, I suppose the Il-214 MTA can, as well (provided we go ahead with the MTA project instead of just ordering a whole lot of Hercs).

To hell with the inferior Russia junk. I say let's go with airbus C-295 that thing is superior to IL-214 in every way and is already flying, not to forget we get the famed "western reliability'

The Ceasar is the frontrunner in the IA's MGS procurement now that L&T (the lead bidder in the Nexter-L&T consortium to offer these in India) has bagged the SPG deal with the K9. I do not see another viable competitor to the L&T offer at this point but the deal is unlikely to be signed this year, sometime in 2017 more likely with the SPG and ULH (M777) being the focus this year.

Teaming up with AL was a good move by L&T/Nexter, AL is by far the largest supplier of vehicles to the Indian Army and this should greatly improve the operational support for this system.

If your intention was sarcasm, it is lost on me.

On topic, the MTA/C-130J are in the 20-ton payload capacity while the C-295 can carry only about 9 tons. Entirely different category. If you want to discuss this further, tag me in an IAF discussion thread. Let's keep only French military-related content on this thread.
