    Old,but always interesting to watch ! @Nilgiri @R!CK @Joe Shearer @Levina @PARIKRAMA @Robinhood Pandey

If you don't know, the light tank is called the ERC90 Sagaie (90mm canon).
Nowadays the vehicle is mainly outdated because of relatively poor armor and no night vision for exemple, but was very useful in service and in our expeditionary missions in the last years and decades, mainly in Africa, but it had many advantages such as being very light, very mobile, being easily airlifted in a Transall aircraft and having a significant firepower with its 90mm canon. So yeah it packed some punch.
It will be replaced by the new EBRC Jaguar.

For the small story : The ERC90 is known for having destroyed several rebel T-55 tanks with its 90mm canon in Chad. Just among the things it has on its hunting list.

    @Vergennes

Be careful. You have touched a very sore spot! :D

Brilliant clip, btw. So different from how feature films insist things happen. Many thanks.

PS: A Sherman tank had 75 mm cannon! Until Tiger tanks started the trend, most tanks had guns under 88 mm. Innocent days!

The raving and ranting that I am tempted to do:
    • Swedish light tanks deployed in Afghanistan
    • Russian light tank used in Chechnya
    Why aren't we
    1. Making our infantry divisions better equipped with 20 mm/30 mm/40 mm/60 mm automatic cannon-bearing armoured wheeled vehicles?
    2. Giving them more mobility with better Armoured Personnel Carriers and Infantry Fighting Vehicles?
    3. Giving plain vanilla Infantry Brigades and Divisions (IMHO, there shouldn't be any Infantry Divisions any more; they are just meat for the slaughter without adequate reinforcement and company or even platoon level firepower, and without designated marksmen) more mobility?
    4. Converting every Infantry Division to Mechanised Infantry, except Mountain Divisions and Paras (actually, even paras need more ordnance)?
    5. Shooting dead those parochial idiots who still try to build empires by insisting that a commando is nothing but an athletic paratrooper, and thereby messing up both special forces doctrine and paratroop doctrine?
    6. Speeding up acquisition of attack helicopters (NOT Apaches, our own) and speeding up the movement speed of Mechanised Infantry?
    7. Forgetting about past battles and looking at future battlefields, and encouraging joint exercises with a far more advanced soldiery, so that we can scan our weaknesses and work towards plugging them, or overcoming them, or transforming our doctrine to make these irrelevant?
    Rant, rant, rant......
