    It's an interesting thought but there doesn't seem to be any indication a common ICV/MBT platform is what is being sought, the FICV is already kicked off and the FRCV is still only speculated.


    + the FICV will be in the 18-20 ton range.

    Egypt bought Rafales from French order, without offset benefits not even customisations like Qatar and India did. If we wanted that kind of low level deal, we could have got it too.

    Yes FICV is meant to be under SP, but that's the problem for Tata as I meantioned before. They offer the only made in India vehicle, but could be forced to produce a foreign one in the worst case, since FICV is a competition with foreign OEMs.

    But as u said, too much of SP is unclear yet.

    Need to clarify .... 3 companies have to being actual prototypes to complete yes? ... where we know only TATA has so far have shown what they have designed .

    What will be this bidding for the final project? and has anyone seen any designs from OB or L&T?

    Hope the Army Specs and Requirement are frozen and Don't pull another arjun!!!!

    Yes, OFB, TATA Motors and L&T will not move ahead and build prototypes to be tested by the army.

    Only TATA motors has shown what their product may look like so far in the public domain.

    FICV is totally different to the Arjun/MBT development, it is an open tender with fixed requirements.

    Still. hope this requirements will remain fixed and not change at the last moment ..... Case and Point the NAMICA , where they change the config for it at the end and delayed the project with fresh trails for a year

    All three categories except AV in the SP is for immediate requirements. So, we can assume it's FICV since it's priority for Army. As you said FRCV is still a blur concept.

    TATA Kestrel (Wheeled Armoured Platform)

    The Wheeled Armoured Platform 8*8 (WhAP) has been jointly developed by the TATA SED group and the Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (VRDE) which is a subsidiary of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The vehicle is the initial trails phases as reports suggest that it matches the Indian army’s specifications and is likely to replace the the aging Soviet BMPs of the mechanised infantry wing.

    Due to its armoured capabilities, this vehicle is an ideal potent for anti naxal operations and due to its amphibious capabilities, these vehicles can patrol the muddy areas of the Rann of Kutch where the temperature is unpredictable and water levels of the Harami Nala (the water body of Rann of Kutch) can change drastically within hours.

    Wasn't that for the tracked FICV? WhAP is different.
