BTW, what is the weight of actual capital ships, if you calculate for India, it is under 2 lakh-2.5 lakh tonnage.

India Navy Warships: 200 Warships To Be Added By 2027 As Naval Expansion Planned

The Indian Navy has announced an ambitious plan to add 200 warships to its fleet by 2027 in a move that would more than double the current fleet of 137 ships. Naval officials also confirmed deals for six new submarines and to add three aircraft carriers to each of the three naval commands.

    More in the article.

We will have a navy the same size as US or China. Pretty impressive.

They will sign massive deals by the end of the decade. The navy's budget will also have doubled by then. So more ships, more crew.

Only our submarine force will be piddly in comparison.

Dunno. It's 70 odd ships in total. 24 submarines, 2 carriers, 11 frigates, 2+4 destroyers, 12 corvettes. That's just the ones we know today.

    As per GFP...

    INDIAN NAVAL POWER
Aircraft Carrier value includes dedicated "helicopter carrier" vessels. Total naval strength includes all known auxiliaries as well.

    [IMG] Total Naval Strength: 202
    [IMG] Aircraft Carriers: 2
    [IMG] Frigates: 15
    [IMG] Destroyers: 9
    [IMG] Corvettes: 25
    [IMG] Submarines: 15
[IMG] Coastal Defense Craft: 46 (OPVs and missile boats)
    [IMG] Mine Warfare: 7

    India Military Strength

So, by 2027 it will be much higher.

I heard that IN actually plans to reply 6 Aircraft carriers in total by 2030. Can any pundit hear confirm/verify that?

We will be lucky to have 3 by 2030. IN's main focus is submarines right now.

Initial plan is to have 3 by 2025 to be ramped upto 6. Most likely there will be a follow on for IAC-1 Vikrant as IAC-2 Viraat. The initial three will be Vikky, Vikrant & Viraat. They will be followed by another class which might be super carriers.

Yeah I know our current bureaucracy is pathetic and know that we won't have 6 ACs by 2030 unless a miracle happens. But what I mean is the sanctioned strength/road map/vision IN has for future, much like how IAF has a sanctioned strength of 42(or is it 45?) Squadrons. Does IN has any such plan? To be frank even 6AC is still pretty low for our country considering our size.

Do you think it is possible le though? May be if we allow private dry docks for construction of ACs?
