What's problem in recovery? UCAV aren't as big as fighters and nor dock of 10,000 tonnes Battleship won't that small that it could not recover UCAV.

todays drones are faster and larger than the older piston aircrafts. so it will be difficult as the ucav body is little weaker than that culd be recovered. on a destroyer. there should be a ramp to take it down. only ucav that has a rotary wing can be launched from the destroyers like helicopters.

I think the future would be where Ships carry drones and use Swarm attacks, a Swarm of Underwater and Aerial drones can overwhelm fleets.
The ships in future should not get big,but the weapon systems should be Miniaturized so that more systems could be put in a small space and such ships which could be built very rapidly repaired in case of need to replace the numbers.
Cheap,Miniaturized,Fast to build. should be the mantra of future ships.

In future, i expect Submarines to mimic Whales and to travel with a pod of whlaes to mask their presence.

==> India should focus on Critical technologies like SAM and associated equipment like Fire Control Radars, Air Survaliance Radars, And Threat identification Algorithms...etc (For how long will we depend on the French and the Israelis)

==> We also lack spectacularly in Ship Propulsion.... We don't have an Indigenous replacement for the LM2500 (we need a KMGT follow on project)

==> Nor do we have an Indigenous Marine Diesel Engine....AFAIK, Kirloskar Has the Manufacturing capacity.... But Not Design Capacity

==> We don't even have a fully Indigenous Ship launched Surface Attack or Anti Ship Cruise Missile....

==> Our Sonar and Torpedo Technology is pretty good... No worries on that front

==> Heck we don't even have an Indigenous CIWS Gun or a Marine Gun....

    ------------------------------------------------------------
IT'S A LONG WAY TO GO BEFORE... We can build a truly Indigenous Ship Like the Americans Or the Chinese Do...

    ------------------------------------------------------------
(If we look at the Type 52-D, the Chinese have their own Missiles, Guns, Radars, Sonars etc. They have their own Marine Gas Turbines too.. I guess only their Marine Diesel is licence manufactured... And I bet in no time they will have their own)
    ------------------------------------------------------------

Eventually.... One day we will reach that level... (Hopefully by 2030-2035)....Our Engineers and Scientists are hard at work....

There was a mention of the development of a '280 mm bore medium speed engine' by kirloskar in one of the papers presented by Indian Naval Officers in a FICCI Seminar in 2016. Also I think the shafting can be realized by L&T's 9000 tonne forging facilities in Hazira.

''Nomination of Equipment for Shipbuilding Projects.

Assured volumes through nomination of key indigenous elements of Main Propulsion Plant components like Diesel engines, Gearboxes and Shafting systems will encourage companies to invest in development of indigenous products. An example of this is on-going development of a 280 mm bore medium speed engine by KOEL to fill the void left by SEMT Peilstick demise.''

Members Should Read the above Document... It is a collection of papers written by EXPERIENCED NAVAL OFFICERS (Not wannabe online defence journalists ) and is very indepth...and highlights short comings of the Indian Ship building Industry.....
This Should Highlight the sorry state of Indegenisation in the 'Fight' category of the Indian Navy...... There is a Very Very Urgent need for focus here....I hope Private Companies can rescue us... Because even 'TOT' by foreign Countries (Israel and Russia) is just a farce.... There are no shortcuts to developing technologies.... The Chinese have been on the foray of Indegenisation from the 1980's....We have just now come to our senses after being ratteled by the PLAN.... ITS A BATTLE UPHILL FOR US.....
I wish luck to our Navy and Our Ship
    builders....

A few Excerpts from one of the papers...

I do not think that would ever happen as it is unwise to do so.

(1)Emitting signal to mimic whales is dangerous as your enemy could have a better cetology department, thus having good enough data and sensors to differetiate between real whale signal and mimicked signal.

(2)In case of war, enemy may decide to kill anything showing as a whale on his sonar within 50Km radius.

The submarine development would probably go for capability to dive deeper, something, which would need major development in material science, something which is very difficult and is not coming easily.

For future destroyer, I would recommend going brute force route, rather than stealth route of USN. A destroyer ,when accompanying an Aircraft carrier, would not be able to hide on radar, as aircraft carrier could not hide on a radar, and a boat like object travelling with an AC would assumed to be an destroyer anyway.

Stealth in Navy has very little utility as in open ocean where there are very few objects floating at all, let alone in a wartime, thus a ship with RCS of a fishing boat in middle of nowhere during heightened tension would be assumed to be a naval ship.
