Watch 02.27: "There is nothing wrong with the planet. The planet is fine........ The people are F*cked"

    An eye opener!

Nice video and a refreshing perspective.
It is in our interest to keep in mind that nature is not a guided, deliberate process, as he would agree.

However, we still need to use our influence on the ecosystem to maintain habitual climate patterns, not simply for the sake of other species, but because what we have now constitutes the most ideal condition for what human civilization has adapted to thrive under.

As far as anthropocentric worldview is concerned, our understanding of our universe is best when it is congruent with reality, no matter how bleak or humbling, of course.
Buddhism and Hinduism are thus among the more agreeable faiths, I believe, because while one can sense a strong biocentric undercurrent to elements of Hinduism, placing extraordinary importance on human life is not central to Vedic systems of philosophy.
In contrast, while it is true Islam does make mention to be considerate to non-human living creatures, abrahamic faiths do stress human action / inaction as central to struggle between good and evil, and claims for humans explicit dominion over all other life. Classical Chinese philosophy practically claims China is the center of the known universe.

However, I'm OK with a little bit of anthropocentrism, given that I am human after all.

We can't live alone on this planet. And the very existence of human beings was to strike a balance between the planet and its environment. But we are doing the reverse. Earth is warning us at every step. If don't come back to the right path, soon, very soon, we will see the end of human civilization.
