Arrest only means Hafizzz Saaaeed Saab [in the words of DoggyBijay Singh ] will not need to go out himself to get his things done, he will have Pakistani Govt and Security establishment at his feet to do those tasks on behalf of him.

Govt issues order to place JuD chief Hafiz Saeed under house arrest
    DAWN.COM
    Imran Gabol

The provincial authorities on Monday issued orders to place Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed under house arrest, DawnNews reported and JuD spokesperson later confirmed.

The government launched a crackdown against JuD and a heavy contingent of police was deployed around the JuD headquarter and offices in Muridke and Lahore.

“A large police team arrived (at JuD headquarters) and told us that Hafiz would be placed under house arrest,” said the secretary of information for JuD, Nadeem Awan.

Awan said the police told them they had an arrest warrant for Saeed and five others at JuD headquarters.

Hafiz Saeed was reportedly present at the Qudsia Mosque located in Chauburji area of Lahore. Contingents of police and other law-enforcing agencies reached the area and surrounded the premises, sources said.

Police sources further informed that Saeed will be shifted to his residence in the Johar Town area of the provincial capital, which will then be declared as a sub-jail.

Saeed has been detained under Section 11-EEE(1) of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1977, sources said.

Meanwhile, the district intelligence committee has suggested the government to put the JuD chief’s name in fourth schedule.

Moreover, national flags have been hoisted at the JuD offices in Lahore, instead of party flags, on the directives of provincial home department, it added.

The provincial authorities have also started to remove the banners of JuD from the roads of Lahore.

The move comes after years of pressure on Pakistan to put Saeed on trial and could ease recently escalating tensions with neighbour and arch-foe India.

Saeed had been accused by the United States and India of masterminding the 2008 attacks on the Indian financial capital Mumbai that killed 166 people.

He, however, has repeatedly denied involvement in the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

Awan said the Pakistani government had been under pressure from the United States to take action against Saeed or face sanctions. “This government has buckled under the pressure.”

In 2012, the United States announced a bounty of $10 million on Hafiz Saeed for his alleged role in the attack in which six American citizens were also killed.

Do you think Pak gives a shit about getting flogged?
Remind me, how many times did India strip Pakistan of their fancy underwears in front of the world!
    They simply don't care.
The only thing they understand is action.
I loved the quote of Major. Gaurav Arya, where he likened Pakistan to the grass of our lawn - both needs to be mowed from time to time to be kept in check!

Well, the diplomatic payoffs are tremendous of flogging them. The alternative is quite expensive for us personally. So, flog them now and then over their support to terror, meanwhile implement your own socio-economic reforms (as is happening) thereby securing your country in an all round sphere.

Great going on that front I must say.

    Diplomatic payoffs like?
I agree about the socio-economic reforms, but I don't see what India has gained so far by flogging Pakistan.

Yes, but please remember that international geopolitics is an ever-changing game. Pakistan still has many cards in its hand still.

Look at the support you have gained of US ....... now before anyone goes half knowing about how it is irrelevant one just needs to remember the economic-diplomatic and financial clout it wields ... forget the military clout it has and will have dor next four decades at least.

Certainly the after effects of Trump coming to Power. Pakistani have started urinating in their pants already !!

They dumped their deeper than ocean friend lizard with just a phone call by Trump from their ABBA US and left their lizard (China) friend with egg on his face who was protecting them in UN against declaring this man a terrorist and his organisation a terrorist organisation.

Pakistan is fast running out of options dear @VCheng ...... the mid east is going to be in greater turmoil and a weakened Russia can do nithing to stabilise it as US moves out.

The Islamic world will become a threat for Russia itself as CAR regions of Russia are restive already. How long do you think before Russia aligns with the US again to face this threat?

And China? You think China will intervene there? And what of the impact of increased turmoil on Pakistani society as even now the elites manoeuvre to save the gentleman?

The game is of US. It serves US interest to withdraw from Central Asia ... it seves it's interest for greater instability as that shall lead to weakening. Of China too as markets are shrunk ... what is the next market for them? And Pakistan?
