Britain’s military, experiencing financial difficulties, has launched a search for buyers for its only remaining aircraft carrier, saying that they are willing to entertain bids from companies, charities and trusts. This was announced by the British Ministry of Defence on Tuesday.

The battle-worn, aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious is one of the best known symbols of the Royal Navy. It is 210 meters long and weighs 22,000 tonnes.

"HMS Illustrious is the last of the three Invincible class aircraft carriers built in the 1970s and 1980s. It will be retired from service in the Royal Navy in 2014," - said British Defense Minister Philip Dunne. If the carrier is not auctioned off, then it will be sold for scrap, he said.

If no one turns up to buy it, then it's indeed best to sell it as scrap. I've started thinking that
even the old INS Vikrant (R11) of Indian Navy should be scrapped. Converting these into a museum or something like that is not very beneficial right now.

They can try to sell it to a south-asian country like Vietnam. Adding another anti china CBG in the region would be fun.:troll:
