observe the diff. between electoral votes which is much greater than popular votes.
my point is, it doesn't matter even if 38% vote went to cong. in guj. in 07 elections,
as in a democracy a single vote matters so whoever gets even a single more vote wins.

What is problem with Rakhi Sawant. Is she not a true citizen of India?

    [derision] Of course 38% dwarves 49%. [/derision]

    Kejri

Only 49% voted for Modi. Yes. All the govts have come to power on majority votes? And who has logged 49% in two consecutive elections? It is already a record, man.

Only electoral votes count in govt formation.

Modi does not even have majority of gujarat's mandate - 51% of gujarati voters disagreed with Modi's hype and had voted for other parties/candidates.

Also, if you factor in the figure that only around 60% of eligible voters actually vote, it means that only 30% of eligible voters in gujarat - ie. less than one third - actually voted for Modi's govt!

Yeah, true. So far no party has ever secured more than 50%. In first-past-the-post, it happens every where.

Its easy for new parties to make big claims. But can you name any country where majority citizens are satisfied with their Govt. and leaders? People need electricity. But most people hate construction of power plants near their homes. Most people hate paying tax. But they want Govt. to give more subsidies. No Govt. or leader in the world can satisfy majority citizens.

MLAs and MPs get salaries from Govt. But all parties including AAP have party workers. Who will pay them? Poor people don't have money to give big donations to parties.
