Well this will all be moot in 7 years when India has developed one of the finest ever AWACS :D

I understand what you are saying but IMHO the IAF's love of foreign maal has to be curtailed sometime, I understand their operational requirements should come first but this can't come at the expense of investing in Indian mil R&D. IMHO the GoI/MoD have come to a decent arrangment that covers part of the IAF's operational requirements whilst ensuring the DRDO will not have the same issues from users as has happened in the past (where foriegn buys have killed the need for Indian developed products). In areas where India can develop its own kit and in reasonable time it should be encouraged, obviously when it comes to the cutting edge (Rafale and such) there is no way to hold off foreign purchases as there is no comparable domestic product being imagined for the forseeable future.

At some point the chicken and egg paradox needs to be nulified.

Does it what do they have; the Erieye (on par with the Netra) and ZDK-03( unproven and IMHO pretty inferior) whilst the IAF has the EL/M-2090 (arguably the world's finest AWACS) I'd take quality over quantity any day.

India's C&C network as a whole is far superior to anything the PAF could hope to raise.

A similar number of aircrafts like IAF, but just 1 border to cover, which translates in better AWACS coverage.
The quality of the AWACS is not important if you don't have the numbers!

R&AW's ARC HQ at Palam airbase.

Those 707 based SIGINT/ELINT a/c are now not in use (AFAIK) and have been replaced by far more capable and smaller assets.

Yep, such as the Bombardier Global-5000E fitted with Israeli sensor suites (including EL/M-2060P synthetic aperture radar).

    :king smiley

After the due obeisance, you deleted some real good posts. Sense is always welcome. My request, do not do it, if it pleases you, your majesty:p

You answered the question quite proficiently (as always) yet denied members the benefit of learning from it.

@GuardianRED That's ARC. Pic is from hangars off Palam. There is an establishment off the Terminal-1 of ARC.
