Russia will make a naval version if India asks for. But as of now 45 MIG 29K are more than enough till 2025. No need for more carrier based fighters.

I agree with the statement of @Picdelamirand-oil, In fact any aircraft which can take off using CAT can also operate from Ski jump the reverse may not be true. The maximum stress on the nose wheel is applied when the ac arrests the wire and the nose is derotated with massive force. If the nose wheel can withstand that force, it can withstand the SKi ramp loads easily. Further, the nose wheel has to be strengthened to withstand the pull of the CAT which may not be the case for a pure SKI jump ac.

But what about thrust. Maybe Rafale does not have enough thrust for Ski jump.

The unofficial Rafale blog merely summarized in English the news from the article in French I also linked to. They didn't invent it. I added that English link for courtesy, but you can try running the real article through Google Translate.

And yes I know they haven't proceeded to real tests. France does not operate any STOBAR carrier so they have had no strong reason to seek to do such tests. Trying it during a Varuna exercise would be a good idea, but it's not necessarily part of what the French and Indian navies want to practice during the limited time they have for the joint exercise.

Rafale has sufficient thrust for it. Rafale might lift higher loads from deck using SKI jump compared to Mig-29K as it is lighter compared to Mig-29K, has higher wing area and has canards in front which are very helpful for ski jump launches or CAT launch compared to fighters with LERX.

It's old and not accurate : for exemple F-3-04T is the current standard of Rafale and is operational F3R is the Standard for 2018 with Meteor etc. And they say that it's the same standard. So in the list of capabilities you don't know the one already operational.
