USA is an enemy ............ how ?
    UK
    JAPAN
    KOREA
    ETC
they're all under the US military umbrella, they do not call US an enemy be it be no one else but it's only PAKISTAN who do so ...............

    Y

the pakistanis have been backstabbing US & US has retaliated ...

USA is a super power so they CAN push their weight around.
china is trying to be a super power so they're also pushing their weight around............... nothing new !!!!

    so what r our options
1 arm "faster" than china ........ so as to be independent force then ... import from all ++++++ have very good relations all over the world.
2 or be under military umbrella of USA or RUSSIA .............

    take your pick

How can you forget about 1971 when US dispatched its USS Enterprise fleet to attack on India ,
They've imposed numerous sanctions over us after nuclear test..Did they imposed sanctions over UK for the same?, they even sabotaged our cryogenic engine efforts during 90s...

Lol, why would the USA sanction the UK? They are core allies. India is not. Throughout the cold war they were neutral/lean USSR. Why would you expect the USA to treat India the same way?

Seems like it's a pretty dumb expectation.

How would the USA neutralize Pakistan's nukes?

Also you do realize relations and allies can change right? UK and France were thousand year enemies before joining the hip for WW1.

then & today ........ we all r in a different era

then we were with USSR & pak was in US lap

in politics there is no history. only current targets/alliances

we need to be safe (no war condition) with china so ... if we have US +EU + russia support / backing/common interest /any way to keep peace Y NOT !!

if tomorrow china fails & India tries to become a superpower then US will try to join hands with china .... thats politics.

so do not go by history (its gone ,,, its written by winners ,,, its debateable ) take a look on current scenario then take a call. .... u will come to the same conclusion what Modiji is doing as of today

You need to get out of the US and Enterprise episode. This socialist-communist-nehruvian ideology has taken a toll on the country.

Look at Germany and Japan. Both were nations which US had stated an aim of destroying in WW2. And they did. And where are these countries now?

US offered India a hand of friendship in 1950. Nehru was in his utopia as usual. He shrugged away. Pakistan saw a chance in this, and till 1970s led India in most indices, including a modern and inclusive society.

Similarly, it was the 1969 Sino-Soviet border conflict that placed Pakistan in an unique position to utilise it's relationships with China and US to be a bridge between them and thereby become the 'eternal friend' on two fronts - anti-India and anti-Soviet.

The movement of Enterprise was only a show ... not an attempt by US to intervene. US would have intervened if it had wanted to, but it was drawing out of a Conflict in Vietnam and was not keen on another one especially with the count of deaths over 58K kia.

So, for this aspect, you really need to get out of the repetitive Indo-Soviet Friendship propaganda and become realistic.

Have to admit. Vast majority of the Soviet allies were destitute poverty striken countries through out the period in which WARSAW pact remained. Meanwhile Most of the American allies like South Korea, Japan and others developed quiet well while Soviet communist and socialist mentality infected this country. I still wonder why some Indians are so in love with the Soviets....

    Hi everyone,

I do not if this is a relevant question. In the context of the above article, cant we buy Super hornets(for navy) instead of F16 and then we have proved to US that we are close friends by buying a frontline jet? As @PARIKRAMA told that some major weapon system should be purchased to get the political message right. This could be an option. Then we can buy Rafales for IAF atleast.

P.S : There are a lot of details regarding US India exercises which point out that the relationship is maturing to another level(as Parikrama hinted)

While the USA will sell India F18s, doubt if they are going to sell the rights to produce the F18. Lockheed Martin is not a charity. The F18 deal could be build on a deal to buy the F16s lock stock and barrel. India needs to be able to produce a plane. I expect in the end, the deal will fail to lack of USA paying bribes and kick backs, India's bureaucratic system and just plain incompence.

On the super hornet issue, there is also that factor that F-18 is Boeing and F-35/F-16 is Lockheed. I'm not sure how much of an actual impact that makes. Also that F-16 production is shutting down while Boeing's should keep open until 2025 without new orders.
