When asked about the AAD project, Shashi said that India has now made huge inroads with the recent success of the mission. She said the systems are fine-tuned ahead of its induction.
“Elsewhere in the world, the missiles are lighter and smarter. We are also reaching there and with all the available technologies we could recently demonstrate a hit to kill mission, becoming the third nation after the US and France,” she said.
17, the AAD interceptor destroyed incoming ballistic missile satisfying all the mission objectives. Shashi and the team are currently engaged in the design and development of a multiple–role long-range interceptor that counters a wide range of threats, carrying onboard many new technologies.

what is meaning by wide range of threats ? Is she referring to aircrafts ,crusie missiles ?

How China plans to Counter India’s Anti-ballistic missile system and of others in the region

Deployment by South Korea of the controversial US-made Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) anti-missile system in response to potential ballistic threats from North Korea, has led to a furious response from China.

THAAD and India’s BDM System can both negate China’s first strike ability in the region thus compromising China’s Superior Conventional and Nuclear threat perception in the region.

To Counter rising Anti-ballistic missile system in the region China has started working on Anti-Radar systems which will be ideal in neutralising Area Defence systems in the region.

All Anti-ballistic missile system consists of sophisticated radar and interceptor missiles designed to spot and knock out incoming ballistic missiles. Long range tracking radars are eye and key system which are needed for successful interceptions of targets.

Bejing plans to develop and install long ranged Anti-Radar systems in frontline which can be used to block, jam or fool Long range tracking radars from successfully transferring data between Interceptor missile and target position.

India’s Aesa based Swordfish Long Range Tracking Radar specifically developed to counter ballistic missile threat are pretty immune to counter jamming by Anti-Radar Systems but according to a Chinese report, Bejing might be working on multiple platforms so that it can carry out successful interfere with its radar signals.

Many Defence Analysts are skeptical of Chinese claims that Anti-Radar Systems that they are developing will be 100% successfully in Jamming Long Range Tracking Radars but it is also not easy to dismiss it completely that it won’t be able to interfere in operations of Long Range Tracking Radars.

Chinese Defence Analyst says India’s Agni-V can hit targets up to 8300km range
    Published April 18, 2017

Chinese Defence Analyst while giving his assessment to Chinese media on a debate over Indian missile program has calculated that India’s long-range Agni-V missile with decent but lighter payload can hit targets as far as 8300km which is well over 5500km range claimed by India.

In his assessment on India’s Agni-V, he claimed, India is deliberately under-reporting missile range to avoid hue and cry over its missile developmental program while western countries remain more focused on North Korean Missile developments.

The analyst also claimed DRDO is also working on to improve propellants and Metallurgy to further improve its range and efficiency without attracting world attention over its missile developmental program.

Chinese Defence Analyst also hinted that India might be also working on modifying and using Agni technology to develop a medium-range missile for the anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) roles just like Chinese developed 3,000 km ranged DF-21D which is world’s first and only anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM).
