India has never aspired to become a world super power. I feel sorry when i see leaders jockeying for permanent seat in UNSC . However we need to be strong. Not asking for mercy but givers of peace

In politics how? We have dogs like diggy raja and raul Vinci driving the country in reverse gear.
If these two leave for Pakistan and Italy respectively then we will have a strong political system

I would not worry about India ever becoming a superpower, but becoming a responsible world power would be good.

Global Power via arms buildup? nahh but India should concentrate upon development of the nation and her people, Major regional power status is required to counter threats arising around due to conflict in interest and India have already achieved it. That's enough for now.

I think it's VERY importnat to get the UNSC seat, and Indian diplomats are right in pushing it...NOT because we want to be a superpower but because it gives us political clout in negotiations. I have read several inside descriptions of negotiations in the WTO and that inimatble Robert Zoellick, current president of the world bank was upto when he was the US trade representative. Man I can't understand how we managed not to get massacreed!!! And that was only in trade. In political affairs it's usually wholesale butchery and our interests will be DROWNED in no time. the UNSC seat allows us to have the leverage it needs to push our agenda. From my readings it's clear that India rarely pushes unreasonable ones and I sort of like our attitude of inclusiveness- our attempts to get other developing countries and africa, for instance. A better stature for us, more influence on the nego table and it will also help all the other countries who have come to lean on us to represent them. It's good for India and It's VERY good for the developing world and poor countries.
