Pakistan violates ceasefire for fourth time in June

As Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi are on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistani troops today violated ceasefire for the fourth time this month by opening firing on Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.

"There was small arms firing on Indian posts in Durga Battalion area along LoC in Poonch brigade belt around 1515 hours today," PRO Defence, S N Acharya said.

He said Indian troops guarding the border took positions and retaliated, resulting in exchange of firing.

The firing exchanges were occurring intermittently when the reports last came in from the area, he said, adding that this was the fourth ceasefire violation this month.

There was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the firing, Acharya said.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi are on a two-day visit to the state.

Earlier this month, a Junior Commissioned Officer was killed when Pakistan opened heavy fire with automatic weapons and rockets on Indian posts along the LoC in Poonch sector.

Pakistani troops had also opened indiscriminate firing in the Poonch sector in which a civilian was injured after an infiltration bid was foiled by Indian troops. They had opened small arms firing on Indian posts in Nangi Tikri forward area along LoC in Krishnagati.

Last month, Pakistani troops had pounded Indian posts along LoC in the Poonch sector with rockets. A Brigadier and two jawans were injured when Pakistani troops opened fire on Indian positions along the LoC in Tutmari Gali sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

Army troops have foiled an infiltration bid by a group of militants along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. A group of militants were seen infiltrating into Indian territory in forward area of Durga Battalion area in Poonch sector last night, a senior police officer said today.

The troops challenged them and opened fire, forcing them to retreat back to Pakistan, he said, adding that one of the infiltrating militants is believed to have been injured in the
firing as blood stains were seen in the area.

Soon after the infiltration bid was foiled, Pakistan troops fired on the Indian side for sometime, he said, adding there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the firing.

This is the second infiltration bid by militants in July.

On July 1, a Pakistani intruder was killed in an IED blast when he was heading towards an Indian forward post during an infiltration bid in Poonch district.

General Officer Commanding (GoC) 16 Corps, Lt Gen D S Hooda had told reporters yesterday that that there has been increase in the firing, infiltration attmepts and ceasefire violations along the LoC with Pakistan and the "situation on the borders is tense".

300 terrorists waiting to enter India

Army says 300 terrorists in 'groups of ten' waiting to enter Indian territory

    Line of Control

The Army on Monday said terrorists in groups of ten are trying to sneak inside Indian territory and attack troops at border posts. "250 to 300 terrorists in groups of ten or 20 are waiting to sneak inside Indian territory with inputs being that their concentration is maximum opposite Poonch," General Officer Commanding (GoC) 19 Corps, Lt Gen DS Hooda told reporters on the sidelines of the inauguration of 220m long Battal bridge over Munawar Tawi river, which has been constructed by the BRO at a cost of Rs.12.5 crore.

"There is an increase in their attempts across the Line of Control (LoC) targeting the posts, trying and disturbing our grid, so that they can infiltrate," Lt Gen Hooda said while replying to a question about militant attacks or Border Action Team (BAT) infiltrations across the LoC. "There are inputs that they (militants) want to come inside our territory for causing casualty to our troops at the border posts," he said.

The Corps commander further said as per reports, there is no successful infiltration in Jammu region but it is difficult to give a surety that no infiltrator has been able to sneak inside Indian territory. In the past two months, border incidents, attempt of infiltration and IED blasts targeting our posts have increased, Lt Gen Hooda said. "Most infiltration bids made by terrorists have been foiled...Due to frustration, they are firing on our posts which are close to the border and also planting mines on the track (to target the troops)," he said.

Inputs suggest there are more infiltrators close to Poonch border, he said. Hooda, who had earlier commented that the "border was tense", said he had said so because of regular incidents happening along the LoC, affecting the local populace. "I had said tense because ceasefire violations, firing and incidents like placing a mine or an IED...if such things continue to happen, obviously there will be some tension," he said.

The Lt General, meanwhile, informed that incidents of infiltration have increased as compared to last year, but added that Army's sole aim was to dominate the LoC and not allow intruders to sneak in. Asked about Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's call for revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), Hooda said, "I don't want to comment on that. All those issues are to be tackled at the government level."

Shoot each one of them if they try to cross. I would prefer to step up the Vigilance increase troops support and give a proactive response.

Bhai, they haven’t yet cross the LOC & they are still on other side of LOC with their collaborator & they are looking opportunities to sneak in our territory. However once they will attempt to cross the LOC then their appointment is surely fixed with almighty god / Allah.
