The Indian cricket team management has reportedly approached the International Cricket Council (ICC) to express its doubts over Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal’s suspect bowling action.
The Indian team management approached ICC CEO Haroon Lorgat on the issue after its win against Pakistan in the Asia Cup on Sunday.
This is the second time in 2012 that Ajmal’s action has been questioned. Earlier this year, England had complained against Ajmal during their Test series loss to Pakistan.
The ICC says that it has cleared the bowler on a previous occasion. ICC Chief Haroon Lorgat said that there is no problem with Ajmal’s bowling action.
Lorgat said that from a naked eye it looks different and technically it looks different. So, technically Ajmal’s action is within the 15 degree bent bowling arm limit.
Former Indian left-arm spinner Bishan Singh Bedi said that the ICC is officially endorsing chucking in cricket. He described Saeed Ajmal as an out and out chucker.
He said that the ICC needed to show more gumption in the dealing with the problem of chucking in international cricket.
Former Indian opening batsman Arun Lal said that on-field umpires these days would not call a bowler for chucking, in view of the action taken against previous umpires on the same issue.

How mate it is possible when Mr.Logat is saying that technically Ajmal’s action is within the 15 degree bent bowling arm limit?

India using pressure tactics on Ajmal: Pakistan

A day after India threatened to lodge a protest against Saeed Ajmal’s bowling action before surprisingly backing out, the Pakistan team management reacted sharply, saying their arch-rivals were merely employing “pressure tacticsâ€.

“We have nothing to say. We will talk if and when we receive a notification from the ICC,†a team official said. When informed that India had chosen not to pursue the matter, the official responded curtly. “There you go! So it was a pressure tactic. Don’t they know that the ICC has no issues with Ajmal’s action? Then why all this drama?†the official said.

On Tuesday, Ajmal, who bowled for well over 40 minutes, did what he does best: flummox batsmen.

In fact, he didn’t even spare his skipper Misbah-ul-Haq and senior pro Younus Khan, outfoxing both the right-handers with his delayed action and tough-to-pick variations.

The wily off-spinner’s doosras and teesras have bamboozled batsmen the world over. It was one such delivery that got the better of Sachin Tendulkar during Sunday’s high-voltage clash at the Sher-e-Bangla.

When asked if he was aware of the reports, Ajmal let out a big laugh. “Nahin yaar, kya hua? (No my friend, what happened?)†And when the media contingent informed that India were indeed “afraid†of his bowling, hence the hue and cry, Ajmal laughed off the claim.

When reminded that it was Tendulkar’s dismissal that prompted the team management to raise a voice against his bowling action, Ajmal’s humility came to the fore. “Arre, woh toh mahaan hain. Ek baar nikala toh kya hua? (He is a great player. So what if I got him once?).†He wasn’t done. The Queen hasn’t knighted the maestro, but Ajmal addressed the batting legend as Sir Sachin. “Woh toh Sir Sachin hain, legend hain (he is Sir Sachin, he’s a legend). He may be in the fag end of his career, but he is still a great player,†Ajmal said.

It’s indeed a shame that India resorted to such a cheap tactic. Well, they must have hoped to rattle Ajmal and his teammates. But Ajmal comes across as a toughie who, perhaps, believes in what Friedrich Nietzsche, the great German philosopher, once said. “What does not kill me makes me stronger.â€

hahahha, when ICC cleared him then who are you to bullshitt like an idiot here, are youthat professional, i think not, and does ICC a.k.a the proxy of BCCI have anything to do with favouring pakistan, ICC has put pakistani cricketers in jail and never to return again, and will ICC favour ajmal?, for your kind info ICC examined shabbir ahmed and said he couldnt carry out with his present action so had to change his action, so no ICC bias

btw saqlain mushtaq invented doosra which your harbajan uses quite often or i should say the only weapon he uses to succeed, so before accusing saqlain go and bullshitt bhaji who admires him a lot

Well we have right to appeal, We will do it, it is upto ICC to decide what to do.. If we have a doubt about anything we will appeal, No one can stop us from that.

By the way ICC has not done full testing as they did on Murli, That is why we are protesting - saying indirectly that we are not happy with their statements we want proof..!

Oh ya by the way congrats on winning the Asia Cup.

And yes I hope u enjoyed Pak vs India match.. Little Info - Kohli - smashes Ajmal round the park - Final Score.. 183

Cricket council clears Ajmal's bowling action

NEW DELHI — The International Cricket Council on Monday backed Saeed Ajmal's controversial bowling action following reports that India had complained about the Pakistan off-spinner.

Indian television channel NDTV, quoting unnamed sources, said the team management had spoken to the ICC about Ajmal's action after Sunday's Asia Cup match between the arch-rivals in Dhaka.

ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat, however, clarified that the governing body saw no problem in the off-spinner's bowling style.
"We have tested Ajmal, checked him and monitored him in match situations, and found he bowls within the allowed degrees of tolerance," Lorgat told the Times Now news channel.
"We must be careful at what the eye sees and what the reality is," Lorgat said.

Ajmal claimed the wicket of batting superstar Sachin Tendulkar as India produced their best ever one-day chase to surpass Pakistan's commanding 329-6 with five wickets and 13 balls to spare.
It was the first match between India and Pakistan since the World Cup semi-final at Mohali in March last year.

The 34-year-old Ajmal, who has played 20 Tests and 63 one-dayers since his international debut in 2008, has found himself under the spotlight several times due to his action.

He was first reported by match officials during a one-day series against Australia in the United Arab Emirates in 2009, but was later cleared to play after remedial work was done on his action.

Doubts about his action were again raised during the recent Tests against England at the same venue, but both the ICC and the Pakistan Cricket Board absolved Ajmal of any wrongdoing

AFP: Cricket council clears Ajmal's bowling action

Clearly the ICC and other relevant authorities have put his action through the due diligence required. They have found the guy to have nothing wrong with his action. If you wish to say different - thats fine but with respect its JUST your opinion not factual.
Shame that he has been cleared several times - but internet global warriors fail to accept the facts and ramble on.

the whole situation can be looked for two view points. now that indian players are discussing that means they were not able to pick his balls so it looks like a case of "sour grapes"

ICC has cleared his action but personally on some occassions he clearly chucks
