    Pathetic.
Chinese are exporting various types of rifles and have their own bull pup version.
We have tech to visit Mars but cant develop a single rifle

That's not true. We developed the INSAS and it's in widespread service from areas like deserts to tropics to the highest battlefield on Earth. Not many weapons can cope well in such conditions.

And the INSAS replacement will also be the Indian AAR made by OFB.

China is a manufacturing-based country and has records of gross theft of IPRs, production-engineering data and was internationally sanctioned for decades - forcing them to develop most infantry equipment in-house. As of making everything in-house, even US, UK & France do a lot of small arms import from the likes of Germany, Belgium, Switzerland etc. for many specialized needs.

France's future service rifle will be of German origin (HK416F).

I don't predict too many things, but Let me go on a limb and predict that lot of people will lose thier jobs over this MX Storm, My gut tells me that there was massive corruption in this deal.

Next is the selection of pistol caliber carbine for a Border security force, to me it makes no sense at all. The only force in the world which uses NTW 20's and Berreta MX Storm in the deployment areas.

Great to see accessorized AK47 in RR. But it is what it is, just accessorized/modernized, not redesigned like and ALFA or an M10X.
I am not a fan of Stamped dust covers being used as picrail bases, but that's just me, if the soldiers are ok with it then great. The Image you posted is just a few accessories, such upgrades should be part of Garrison mangers local expense , not an institutional change.

Do you think the garrison staff can afford such specialized imports in quantity (like at least a few dozen sets)? Is their allowance/expenditure a preset amount or can they be cleared for more expensive items if they so request?

Ok.then ignore China ,what about Germany?
How could they develop these most modern engineering marvels?
Ancient Indian science ,Alchemy ,Astronomy ,Medicine etc are renown around the world .
We need to regain that position.

    Capitalism.

Alignment with major economic powers & adopted their work culture, expanded on it. We on the other hand had to deal with stupid socialist policies for 50+ years and still do in many sectors. Add to that reservations (no meritocracy), which kill off potential in a section of the workforce.

Only we like to tell ourselves that they are renowned around the world. No-one else knows more about them than what you know about ancient Chinese medicine.

Yes, we did have great kingdoms which spawned literature, astronomy, medicine-related works...but since the Renaissance, and followed by the Age of Enlightenment, Western science had totally out-done everything any previous civilization achieved. The principles by which you live your life today...whether it's weather-forecasting, sending rockets to the moon, or driving a car or going to the hospital when you are injured...is all based on Western science. Deal with it.

Now, what we can & must do is exactly what the Chinese are doing. Fully adopt the Western economic principles...and muster them so well that you become better at this game than those that created it. In many ways, China has already surpassed the West.

I don't give much credence to 'regaining past glory' type fantasies. Here's the short truth - everyone speaks about past glory, every major civilization had a Golden period...however only a few actually become great civilizations once more. And those that do, don't do so because they decide to do everything from scratch in their own way, but because they take whatever the world's knowledge has to give, and build upon it.

Greece, Italy, Peru, Mexico, Iraq (Mesopotamia), Macedonia, Afghanistan etc. also have great past positions which they'd be happy to regain...except that they can't. They're more likely to fall flat on their face in their wretched attempt.

Germans are westerners or centre of the West .It was their working culture that other nations adopted .

I dont believe that socialism badly affects technology .USSR was a socialist nation .

Working culture is very bad in India .
East Asians are good in their working culture and in China it is Iron Fist .

There are no people in the world which can't work wonders if provided the right upbringing, education, infrastructure, incentives (i.e. salary, benefits) & disincentives. After WW2, Germany's industry was largely a pile of rubble. Any factory that could produce anything of tactical or strategic value was bombed to bits (which was most of the factories. Any production capacity was immediately directed to the war effort)...from there, the allies (US, UK, France), allowed/facilitated building it up with proper assistance. That's why West Germany was a far better place to be that the Soviet-controlled East Germany.

    Reconstruction of Germany

    Marshall Plan

Socialism doesn't badly effect just technology, it ends up effecting every walk of life. It is the definition of short-term gain for long-term loss.

USSR wasn't just a socialist country, it was a Communist authoritarian regime. There, if you didn't work or worked poorly, you were either shot dead or sent to the Gulag (forced labor camps). And China, like USSR, is also an authoritarian regime. Socialism & Democracy are like water & oil. Anyone who tries to mix them ends up getting poor results. Capitalism + Democracy on the other hand, can work wonders - a truth we Indians began to realize only in the early 90s with Liberalization of the Economy and the symbolic end of License Raj - the Nehru-Gandhi socialism bullsh!t which plagued India straight from independence to the end of the Cold War.

It was only then that control of major industries began slipping from state-run companies (where the management are motivated by Pension and not Profit) and started falling to profit-driven private enterprises which work purely on Capitalist principles & Meritocracy. As a result, we saw the massive rise of major conglomerates like Tata, Reliance, Mahindra, Birla, etc. - which altogether have done more to the nation & people of India in the last 20 years than any state-run company did in the last 70 years.

Yet the work ethic in a company like TCS is eons ahead of something like DRDO. As I said before - govt. policies are to blame.

Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore (Four Asian Tigers) and Japan were born & bred in Capitalism and the close nurturing of the West, like I said before, they adopted everything the Western science/economic policies could teach them. The idiotic middle-aged Indian man (or woman) believes that by adopting Western practices, we are killing our own culture. Nothing could be farther from the truth - it all depends on how you execute it. The Japanese have taken the best of what Western knowledge had to offer, and yet remain uniquely cultured in their own way. In fact Japanese cultural practices are far more robust than Indian/Hindu practices...where even our grandparents don't know exactly which part of our culture was our own and which was imposed on us by the British/Muslims.

I laugh at the rural women of several Indian states who cover their bodies & faces with veils and think that is Indian culture - lol it was imposed on them by the Muslims from their own Burkha culture.
