WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s former president Pervez Musharraf charged Thursday that arch-rival India seeks to “create an anti-Pakistan Afghanistan†as part of a bid to dominate South Asia politically and economically.

Musharraf said Afghanistan sends its intelligence staff, diplomats and soldiers to Pakistan where they are “indoctrinated against Pakistan,†something he said India must stop and the United States should be concerned about.

“In Afghanistan, there is some kind of a proxy conflict going on between Pakistan and India,†Musharraf told a leadership forum sponsored by the Atlantic media corporation.

“India is trying to create an anti-Pakistan Afghanistan.†It’s ambition, he said, is to “have a weak Pakistan so that it can be dominated, so that it doesn’t have any confrontationist attitude which doesn’t go well with India’s vision of dominating the region.â€

Musharraf said he understood that India does not seek to take over Pakistan militarily, but rather it wants to dominate Pakistan in the area of foreign policy, economic policy, trade and commerce.

“That is how you suppress, you control or dominate another country,â€according to the former army chief who seized power in a 1999 bloodless coup and resigned as president in 2008.

“Afghanistan’s intelligence, Afghanistan’s diplomats, Afghanistan’s soldiers, all the army, security people, they all go to India for training,†where they are “indoctrinated against Pakistan,†he added.

While he was in power, he said he personally offered Afghanistan free training but “not one man has come to Pakistan for training.â€

He added: “India must stop it…. I would say that the United States needs to understand Pakistan’s sensitivities. I see there is a lack of concern for Pakistan’s sensitivities.â€

Musharraf spoke after Afghan President Hamid Karzai signed a “strategic partnership†with India on Tuesday.

The partnership, the first such pact between Afghanistan and another country, deepens already friendly Delhi-Kabul ties and aims to boost trade, security and cultural links between the countries.

Fearful of encirclement by its wealthier neighbor, Pakistan has long focused on Afghanistan, arming warlords against the Soviets in the 1980s, backing the Taliban in the 1990s and hedging its bets in the 2000s.

Wait , wait, hey mussy, if Pakistan is all about sponsoring terrorism, yes India wants a weak Pakistan, but a weak Pakistan doesn't help India in any ways, if Pakistan turns anti-terrorist is true sense the day wont be far India and Pakistan share a friendly vision with Pakistan and both the neighbourhood live in peace and prosperity. After all without the terrorist their should be minimum difference of opinion between India and Pakistan, Kashmir problem get solved.

India wants to weaken, dominate Pak: Musharraf

    Washington, Oct 8 (PTI)

Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has claimed that India's ambition is to weaken Pakistan so that the country can be dominated.

"I mean, dominance in todays' world, I think, dominating a country or moving against a country doesn't mean that they want to take over Pakistan. I don't think that (India taking over Pakistan) can happen," Musharraf said at a think tank here.

"After all, they helped Bangladesh get independence. They haven't taken over Bangladesh. It implies dominating their foreign policy, dominating their economic policies, their trade, their commerce," he said.

Responding to questions, Musharraf claimed that India's ambition is to weaken Pakistan, to have a weak Pakistan so that it can be dominated, so that it does not have any confrontationist attitude, which does not go well with India's vision of "dominating the region" and maybe being if not a world power, at least a regional power.

Musharraf, who has leveled allegations against India's developmental work in Afghanistan in the past, said the US needs to ask New Delhi to stop this.

"We know that Afghanistan's intelligence, Afghanistan's diplomats, Afghanistan's soldiers, all the army, security people, they all go to India for training. Pakistan and I had offered them training facilities free of cost in Pakistan, to all of them. Not one man has come to Pakistan for training. They go to India. So, therefore, we receive intelligence, diplomats, soldiers indoctrinated against Pakistan's interests," he said.

"So, this is what we must understand must stop. India must stop it and the United States must understand Pakistan's concern what is happening in Afghanistan. I would say that United States needs to understand Pakistan's sensitivities. I see that there is a lack of concern for Pakistan's sensitivities," Musharraf said.

The former Pakistani military ruler said that after the two countries got their independence, there has been a tussle between their intelligence organiations -- RAW on one side, ISI on the other.

"This has been happening all over these decades. Now, this must go if we must resolve dispute. Now, in the late history, the past three or four years, this manifestation is in Afghanistan. In Afghanistan there is some kind of a proxy conflict going on between Pakistan and India. India is trying to create an anti-Pakistan Afghanistan," he said.
