well the biggest order which french have got so far from India in the form of rafales, has emboldened them to pursue many such avenues of different platforms of weapons. Subs and fighters they have already bagged the deals. Now some will suit india some not because of varoety of options like ingenuousness or MII collaboration or from other countries

Some sort of critical defense partnership with French is developing and is always welcome, there weapons are as good as US weapon systems and are crucially sanctions free even in event of war and most importantly India and french are not going to cross ways of each other in geo political affairs unlike US. where many problems may come out of no where on any issue (Trump is one such glaring example)

Nice presentation.... PR fellows for DRDO should learn from this, seen to many field presentation - where the guy when presenting either repeats himself or just mumbles thru

Is the Cabin for the Ashok Leyland - armoured?

Very true, fully exepect Nexter to bag the 814 unit MGS order soon.

Can't expect a DRDO engineer to compete with a professional salesman from a global OEM!

Just what I was wondering, it certainly doesn't look as armoured as the Renualt truck:

Hmmm.... just looking at the product range for AL. This model isn't part of it. Also as the sales guy did say that this Model is a civilian Model.

So maybe for testing/ prototype they used this model . We might see a different chassis - similar to the FAT, used here soon

I deleted my earlier comment as I realised that Dhanush 155/45 is costing us 14 crore per piece.

Meanwhile 12 Soltam ATHOS costed 8.2 Million USD for Philippines. That is a little over 4.5 Crore per piece.

The Nexter and Elbit , both were offering around 1400+ Towed Howitzers in 1.1 Billion USD.

I am suddenly having a soft corner for these.

The truth is, we need towed artillery in huge numbers. And 1800 ATAGS + 1400 ELBIT/NEXTER + 414 Dhanush would be very good.

Is this how our Artillery procurement road-map is going to be?

    Towed:
    1850 - ATAGS (155mm, 52-cal)
    414 - Dhanush 45 (155mm, 45-cal)
    645 - M777 (155mm, 39-cal)

    Self-Propelled:
    814 - probably Caesar (155mm, 52-cal wheeled)
    ~250 - K-9 Thunder/Vajra (155mm, 52-cal tracked)

    Rocket Arty:
    62 - BM30 Smerch (300mm)
    ~200 - Pinaka Mk.1/2/2ER (214mm)

That's easily 4200+ new artillery pieces right there. And that's not even including the IFG replacement (Garuda 105 probably), any possible foreign towed howitzer purchase, and ofcourse, the new indigenous 300mm MBRL under development. Final numbers could be above 6000 new arty.

No. The 155/52 Dhanush has only cleared internal trials of OFB.It has to pass around 18 months long field trials, after that another 6 months of confirmatory trials for the first serial production batch by the Army.

In the phase of development of 155/52 Dhanush, OFB will supply 114 155/45 Dhanush guns.

Isn't that a bit of BS by the Army. There is no trials that should take 2 yrs to complete.
