"We will retaliate as well. Pakistan is a controlled democracy and you won't see the media being allowed anywhere close the LoC. Hence, you never get the exact numbers. Everything is a speculation there."

India wants to send two messages: One to Pakistan that it will not take things lying down any more, the other to the international community that it will act only to neutralise terrorists across the border, it does not intend to escalate it beyond current operations.

Under the DGMO's purview are Jammu and Kashmir, the North East and India's borders with Pakistan and China.

India conducted surgical strikes last night along LoC to safeguard our nation: Defence Ministry
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a Cabinet Committee on Security meeting earlier today.

“India conducted surgical strikes last night on the LoC to safeguard our nation, the Defence Ministry said on Thursday. Significant casualties have been caused to terrorists and those trying to shield them. We don’t have a plan to further conduct such strikes. India has spoken to Pakistan,” DGMO Lt Gen Ranbir Singh said.

“There were launch pads at the LoC where terrorists were present waiting to infiltrate the nation and attack areas in Kashmir and metros across the country,” the DGMO said. No Indian casualties occurred during the surgical strikes that were carried out last night by the Indian Army.

“We have recovered items including GPS which have Pakistani markings. Captured terrorists hailing from PoK or Pakistan have confessed to their training in Pakistan or in Pakistan controlled region,” Singh said.

“I spoke to the Pak DGMO, shared our concerns and told him that we conducted surgical strikes last night: DGMO Singh said.

PM Narendra Modi had informed President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President and former Prime Minister Mahmohan Singh on the surgical strikes. Jammu and Kashmir Governor and CM Mehbooba Mufti have also been informed about the surgical strike.

The press conference was jointly conducted by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Defence.

Meanwhile, Pakistan, in a statement issued has said: At least two Army men were killed as Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged fire over the Line of Control in “Azad Jammu and Kashmir”. The exchange of fire began at 2:30am, ISPR said, and continued till 8:00am. “Pakistani troops befittingly responded to Indian unprovoked firing on the LoC in Bhimber, Hotspring Kel and Lipa sectors,” the statement said.

India had repeatedly warned Pakistan not to allow its territory to be used for terrorist activities. Besides, India had called for an international diplomatic boycott of Pakistan as it shielded terrorists on its land. At the United Nations General Assembly, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said Pakistan was a terror state and it need to rein in terror elements.

Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security to discuss the ceasefire violations along the Line of Control. Also present at the meeting were Home Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, NSA Ajit Doval, and Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar.

Three ceasefire violations by Pakistan were reported along the LoC in the last 24 hours.

Prime Minister Modi was also scheduled to hold a high-level meeting on Thursday to review the Most Favoured Nation status granted to Pakistan, but that meeting has now been rescheduled for next week.

India had also summoned Pakistan high commissioner Abdul Basit and handed over evidence that proved the terrorists that attacked an army base in Uri and left 19 jawans dead, did come in from across the Line of Control.

The strikes have been done on 20th, 25th and last night. last night was completion of operations. The best part is that PA & PAF were fully ready for such attacks and yet failed to detect the ingress and igress of our Helos or infiltration by Para SF. I had stated a few days back that a very high number of EW assets have been used in these operations.
NaMo did an excellent job of fooling Pakistan by taking attention away from military strikes. This is the perfect example of how civil and military shud work and do their respective jobs.
I will rate these raids superior to any commando operation that I have known including 'Operation Thunderbolt" by Israeli forces in Entebbe airport. To strike simultaneously with 8 teams across a large front and come out with zero loss when the enemy is ready and waiting.
It is undoubtedly the best SF acts of all times and will be studied and taught in all major military academies the world over.

time for military coup in Pakistan. Nawaz called it bad and PA says nothing like this happened. Till yesterday Mota Raheel was saying that Pak defences are impregnable and here IA goes in and out at will and strike them at will. Nanga kar diya saalon ko. Thand pad gayi meray seenay main.

Last night when the attacks were on, PA was so scared that they took it to be a full fledged invasion by IA. They ran to America and Kerry called up Sushma twice to know what the hell is happening. US NSA called Doval and after that they go to know that we have already done what we wanted to do.
As precaution and also to dominate every step of escalation ladder. IN moving into Arabian sea in full force.
