    Re: Indian Election's

A survey conducted to gauge the mood of the electorate in Uttar Pradesh has shaken up the top leadership of Congress like never before. The writing is on the wall: the Congress will hopelessly lose Uttar Pradesh to Mayawati.

If elections are held today, Mayawati will become chief minister again with a larger majority.

In a likely repeat of Bihar, the Congress party is poised to drop to single digit with an all time low figure of 9 seats out of 405 in the UP assembly elections, scheduled to be held in 2012, according to a comprehensive survey commissioned by the party. Uttar Pradesh, the most crucial state for the Congress and the Gandhi family, is showing radical preferences.

Cong will be devastated in UP, says secret survey - Rediff.com News

Congress to Seek Prez Rule in UP if It Does Not Get Majority

Congress leader Sriprakash Jaiswal today said if his party fails to get a majority in the UP Assembly polls, it will seek imposition of President's rule in the state, a remark that drew a sharp response from the BJP.

"Those who lack confidence are looking for alliance ....Congress will not forge any alliance," the Union Coal Minister told reporters after exercise his franchise here.

"If Congress gets majority then it will form the government...If some seats are short then there is no option other than President's rule," he said.

Jaiswal said that results of UP polls would be "shocking" and Congress would get majority.

His statement evoked sharp response from the BJP which termed it as an indicator of the "feudal mindset" of the Congress.

"On the threat that they would impose President's rule, I appeal to the electorate not to poll in favour of Congress as the party is not understanding the importance of their votes," senior BJP leader Uma Bharati said in Charkhari, from where she is contesting.

She said such a statement was "undemocratic" and was not an announcement, but a threat.

"It is indicative of feudal mindset. Congress does not believe in democracy that is why they are saying this," she alleged.

Even though I want Congress to loose in UP, I don't want Maya darling to win too. This good for nothing women had taken UP backward by 15-20 years while Nitish Kumar was doing a tremendous job in Bihar.

Aren't there any other good alternative in UP??? How's BJP's leadership there?? Lok-satta of Jay Prakash Narayan??

Really, when I look at the cadidate lists in our elections, I get mighty depressed.. When will some good people come out to politics???

Yes about the president Rule in UP, for that GOI needs
to pass a legislative Bill in Parliament in Both houses.

Congress does not have majority in Rajya Sabha
and in the Lok Sabha it has about 278 total which included Samajwadi Party and BSP

Even if BSP supports President rule incase of hung assembly,
SP will oppose it and it has about 22 MPs,
so the GOI vote falls to 256, needed for simple Majority is 272.

The bill wont make it in any of the houses.
Govt. will be humiliated and will have to recognize the vote of UP.

I have relatives living there in UP,
everyone is saying no one will get a majority although SP will come the closest.

    Congress might get thrashed.

    Re: Indian Election's

I think BSP will get max seats around 170-180

SP will gain alot getting around 120-130

BJP would marginally improve to around 70

Peace party/quami ekta will get 20-30

    Congress would get around 10
    Rest independants and RLD

i dont agree with the BSP and SP speculation of your,
the rest can be very close to the true results,
About BSP and SP, I think the seat numbers will be reversed,
at least that what i am hearing from my relatives
and family and friends living in UP.

The dalits and adivasis will vote enmasse for BSP.

Muslim vote divided between SP and Quami Ekta.

If Quami Ekta wasnt there then SP would beat BSP.

    Re: Indian Election's

My prediction for UP is some thing like this

    BSP 120 to 130

    SP 140 to 155

    BJP 65 to 75

    CONG 35 to 45

    RLD 10 to 15

    IND & OTHERS 8 to 15

    TOTAL 403

Both Congress and BJP might make small gains. But none of them will become big players. But BSP is gonna lose big time.

    Re: Indian Election's

You left out Quami Ekta Dal its going to do far better than congress and RLD.
    BSP might trump SP.

BJP has no candidate for CM post and Uma Bharati is a joker. If these problems were not there BJP would cross 150 easily.
