What will this mean to the NAG

Also will this used the existing NAMICA chassis and launch platorm ? - this would help in cutting development time yes?

I don't understand , is it 100% indigenous for deep penetration capabilities or based on Spice-250 joint venture btw India-Israel as directed energy weapon for generating EMP?

i dont think it is based on spice250

this rumor was spread by prasun khan sengupta

look at the fore fins and the rear fins

they r different , spice 250 fins deploys and then gets locked down in a horizontal notch/slit lower than the housing horizontal slit

in SAAW the housing slit and lock down slit r in the same horizontal line

plus the rear fins in SAAW r non retractable unlike in spice 250 where the fins r deployed in flight

also the exhaust vane is totally different in SAAW and spice 250

as for the EMP warhead it is a no brainer

EMP warheads was already under development
initially in one test it failed miserably , where it managed to knockout the cell phones on the scientists only lol

but progress has been made since then

prasun made a good guess with regard to emp warhead thats all

anyways believe what u/anybody wants to believe

note small sized PGM shapes r very generic

Early Astra missile tests, the similarities of NGARM are obvious:

It is clearly based on SPICE 250, although I didn't expected the Israelis to share their design that earlier, PSK was right on that. Except for the rear (fixed fins and propulsion?), SAAW is obviously identical to SPICE 250 and the Israelis mentioned long ago, that an propulsion to extend the range or glide profiles could be added too, if a customer demands it.

The fixed fins might also explain why twin launchers are used, instead of the quad launchers this kind of weapon usually has, but it confirms earlier reports about a maximum of 9 x SAAW on a Jaguar.

The interesting part however remains the guidance kit, since we don't know much about that so far. That's the best part of the SPICE kit and where we still struggle with indigenous counterparts, see Nag/Helina.

    Israeli airframe
    French twin launcher
Most likely Indian seeker, warhead and propulsion?

SAAW is quad pack capable. Wait for more tests.

    Its already 100km+.

Here we go again, from someone who ridiculed the possibility of DRDO to making anything similar just a few months ago. When the actual picture is out you question whats inside, obviously official specs or tender document are 'unreliable' for 'European standards'. When it near induction you will question the reliability and QA rite? or How IAF is pressured to induct it (like Astra apparently). How could this 'failure' DRDO can make anything like this ?! This has to be copy of french/Isreali systems, There is no other reasonable explanation. :cray:

Look at the first pic, the fins reach over the twin launcher. SPICE 250 has retractable fins that opens up after the drop and would not interfere with the quad pack.

And I turned to be right, because they did what I wanted with the smart glider as well, teaming up with a foreign partner and customize it for our requirements.
Now we know for sure that DRDO has no part in the design work for the weapon, except for the tail section maybe. And what I told you about the Jag loadout was correct as well. So I have no issue at all with this approach, because it promises more success in a faster time, than waiting for DRDO.

Not really, because I told you before, without knowing the guidance system and the warheads, we don't know if it's a PGM similar to SDB or an anti runway weapon like Matre. Will it have multi mode seekers, or just sat/ins guidance, will it be able to attack movable targets or just stationary as the reports so far suggest. That's why I kept telling you, that we don't know much about the weapon so far, to assume things!
You really must get over this pride complex and get realistic mate. :rolleyes2:

P.S. I am very happy to see them using the Astra design for other missiles too, finally they did something the simple way and not went for something over ambitious!
